Navigating the murky waters of global cyber threats is no easy task, especially when those threats can impact international trade and investment. If you're keen to delve deeper into cutting-edge cybersecurity practices that intersect with global commerce, then tomorrow's session at the 1CyberWorld 2023 Global Cyber Conference is not to be missed. On September 15th, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am US ET, Gerald Caron, the Chief Information Officer of the International Trade Administration (ITA), will present a session titled "Zero Trust." Given the ITA's mission to promote U.S. exports, attract investment, and ensure fair trade, this is a session that promises to integrate cybersecurity best practices within the broader context of international trade and compliance. Topics covered in the session will include: - The essentials of the Zero Trust architecture and why it is critical in today's cyber landscape. - How the principles of Zero Trust can be applied to protect sensitive trade data and uphold compliance with international laws and agreements. - Insights into how the ITA integrates Zero Trust into its cybersecurity strategy to protect the international competitiveness of U.S. industry. Considering the International Trade Administration's focus on creating prosperity through promoting and regulating international trade, this session is particularly relevant for business leaders, cybersecurity professionals, and government officials who operate at the intersection of trade and technology. The ITA’s unique position in global markets makes this a golden opportunity to understand how a robust cybersecurity posture supports fair and prosperous international commerce. Zero Trust is not just a cybersecurity strategy; it's a business imperative, particularly for organizations that operate on a global scale. The session by Gerald Caron will provide not just theoretical understanding, but also practical approaches that could be applicable to a wide range of industries and sectors. Join us tomorrow at the 1CyberWorld conference to explore this vital topic. The need for robust cybersecurity frameworks has never been more critical, especially for organizations that have stakes in international markets. Your participation could bring about a seismic shift in how your organization approaches both cybersecurity and global trade. We look forward to your attendance. Thanks for posting Ted Dziekanowski. This is a subject that we have discussed many times in 2023, through our own papers and with European associations such as the ECIIA | European Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditing. The impact of European Regulation is much bigger than the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and compliance by Financial Services Firms. The EU Network Information Security Directive (NIS 2) will likely effect over 50,000 Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) providers across the EU, that includes Banks, Financial Market Infrastructure providers and ICT service management providers. (https://lnkd.in/eQtqxeFf) Veritas GRC has written a compliance program focused on governance, oversight, assurance and attestation required by boards and companies. Addressing compliance with DORA, NIS 2 and the SEC final rule. That we will be publishing within the next quarter. Please do follow us to keep informed. Brian D. McCarthy Rich Waite, M.Ed. Senior Team development, Change, Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Sustainability Leadership. Track Record with Senior leaders at risk of career derailment. Elected Councillor Kingston upon Thames
Do you use the WBA benchmarks to assess your company’s record on the different aspects of Sustainability? Are you one of the high-impact 2000 ? The WBA would love to know if they are having the impact they intend, and whether the benchmarks help you to understand your sustainability record and inspire you to keep yourself accountable.
I certainly talk a lot about corporate accountability, this naturally implies that we as the World Benchmarking Alliance need to be accountable. Accountable to the companies we assess, our allies, partners and donors. To measure and learn whether we are on the right track we have an Impact, Learning and Development function in WBA. This helps us to measure, track, learn and be accountable for our impact. As part of this effort we have now commissioned Technopolis Group to conduct an independent evaluation of WBA’s activities and impact. I would therefore be very grateful if you could contribute to this evaluation by completing this 5-10 minute survey about your engagement with WBA and use of WBA benchmarks. Thank you. https://lnkd.in/e7k36qfC

Was proud to add my thoughts to this important look ahead. "Looking into 2024, I think the most important issue for U.S. national security will remain the shifting balance of power between the United States and China. We see this shifting balance impact the war between Russian and Ukraine and Israel and Hamas, where China openly counters U.S. policies with little consequence. We see it in space, cyberspace, trade, diplomacy and every other domain that matters. Unquestionably, China’s economic, military, and diplomatic strength is advancing more rapidly than many Western policy makers realize. Developments in 2023 like a weak and stale Western military industrial base presenting itself in the support for Ukraine, and with China’s ability to support its allies in Russia and the Middle East with little consequence are alarming and new. The United States must advance economic, defense, and foreign policies more rapidly to turn the ship to face its primary adversary directly before it’s too late."
As we look ahead to 2024, see what NSI and CTC experts think will be the most pressing issues for national security this year.
