Meritas’ Lawyer Exchange Program Enhances Ability to Provide Quality Cross-Border Legal Service Why is the Lawyer Exchange Program so important? Lawyer exchanges are one of the best ways for independent law firms in different legal markets to strengthen their bonds and pave the way for seamless cross-border service, benefiting clients worldwide. They provide value to the firms and the lawyers who participate, and are especially attractive to early-career lawyers, which aids firms’ recruitment and retention efforts. Having young lawyers who are exposed to new perspectives and are fulfilled in their jobs creates stable firms that are able to maintain their reputation for high-quality legal service long-term.    Meritas prides itself on the strong relationships between its more than 180 firms across the globe, which is at the foundation of its ability to provide excellent cross-border legal services. In the second half of 2023, it saw 13 member firms and 12 lawyers—in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Africa—participate in lawyer exchanges that provided value to the firms and lawyers involved and, most importantly, enhanced their ability to service global clients going forward.
