The time for defining decarbonisation ambitions is over. CO2 neutrality by 2050 needs ACTION NOW, starting with what can be effectively done already today through PPPs such as driver training (-15%) and the use of larger eco trucks (-30%)! https://lnkd.in/esTVS9r4
We absolutely have to start now, with the existing fleet, while we work on fleet electrification. We cannot carry on as is. It is wrong!
Work on it by providing road safety solutions for morocco ...and telemetrics solutions to mesure nox and co2 xn--missions-90a.it s long process lot of discussions but no act .the only way it s to make state aid to promote it and to think about a political low . The african countries are very impacted by pollution ; fatalities.ect...
Also reducing empty distance of the trucks. I believe this would be much easier than the other precautions.
The decarbonization of the transportation sector will provide a significant contribution to combating the climate crisis. However, there is no clear global target set for road transport. Only the EU's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 may have a limited impact within a specific geographic area. While the maritime sector can pursue a comprehensive approach under the globally implemented MARPOL convention, road transport, despite producing more emissions, cannot move towards a global implementation. This is due to the lack of a global organization like the IMO and a global agreement like MARPOL for the road transport sector. Moreover, transitioning to electricity in the short term and hydrogen in the long term for trucks seems feasible given current technological advancements. Additionally, energy-efficient solutions such as combined transportation and trucks pulling multiple trailers can be implemented rapidly. The solution exists, but it will take years to establish the global regulations necessary to implement it, requiring the will to act. Establishing an Inland Transport Organization (ITO) is imperative as soon as possible, as the UNECE cannot transcend regional boundaries.
