📺 📺 Did you miss our last seminar presented by Postdoc Dr Stine Johansen? Catch up or watch again via the recording: https://lnkd.in/gFV5S_gS In this engaging seminar, Stine talks about ways that technology shapes people’s relationships with the world, proposing that when we design interactions with technology, we also design people. She puts into practical terms, how this is relevant in the area of robotics, including how our worldview sets us up for certain research programs. This will segue the talk into the second part where she will outline findings from a recent literature review. The literature review investigates ways that the area of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) has studied human-robot collaboration. Based on the literature review findings and the perspectives we can gain from a post-phenomenological worldview, Stine also describes future research opportunities for ways to design and study human-robot relationships. Watch here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gFV5S_gS Jared Donovan, Markus Rittenbruch, Jonathan Roberts, Glenda Caldwell, Marc Carmichael, James Dwyer, Eleonora Zodo

This is incredible.... High School students are building and programming these robots! In just a few short months, these young STEM enthusiasts, supported by Riverside, have catapulted to the top ranks of global robotic teams! Their transition from learners to emerging innovators is a testament to the transformative power of dedicated support and mentorship in STEM fields. The journey of these ambitious young minds, now among the world's elite in robotics, underscores the impact of strategic backing and guidance. Riverside's role in fostering these talents goes beyond sponsorship; it is a nurturing partnership that empowers future leaders of technology. Let's celebrate this remarkable milestone achieved by these young innovators and the visionary support from Riverside Research. Their progress is not just inspiring—it's a beacon for the potential of youth in STEM. How do you think support from institutions like Riverside changes the trajectory for young innovators? Share your thoughts! GOOD LUCK AT WORLDS #STEM #Robotics #YouthInTech #FutureLeaders #RiversideResearch #InnovationExcellence
We’ve been so excited to follow the progress and many wins of the Fresta Valley Robotics Team! As their proud sponsor, we’re invested in the team’s ability to learn and adapt to new challenges throughout the course of the competitions. Last weekend, the team took first place, making them the champions of FIRST Chesapeake District. The team also picked up its third Autonomous award, recognizing the team’s skill in programming the robot to perform moves without human intervention at the start of each competition round. (Press play on the video to check it out in action!) What’s next for the team? They’re headed to the 2024 FIRST Championship, a robotics world championship held in Houston, TX, April 17-20. There, Low Rider, their custom-built robot, can compete with the best of the best. Congratulations, Team 1731! 🤖 #STEMEducation #RiversideResearchGivesBack #Robotics #Victory Learn more about our STEM community outreach: https://bit.ly/3PQTgEi

This summer, I had the chance to finalize my two years in UD's robotics lab in the form of an independent study. Led by Ioannis Poulakakis and Prem Chand, I continued to explore questions related to the designing of forward walking gaits for Agility Robotics' "Digit" model. This humanoid robot posed many unique challenges during experimentation; How we managed to overcome these problems is detailed in the paper attached. I encourage those interested in the field of robotics to examine my findings and let me know your thoughts!
