RudderStack recently launched RudderStack Profiles, a solution that enables you to effortlessly create a comprehensive customer-360 directly on your data warehouse. Initially designed to answer critical questions about your business, Cloud Data Warehouses have gradually evolved as the centre of a composable CDP for marketers. Consequently, in addition to key business metrics, creating a customer-360 or a "golden" customer record became an immediate priority for the data teams. Unfortunately, the path to the golden record was not straightforward. It involved: 1) Building numerous DBT models to consolidate customer data from multiple sources. 2) Aggregating raw events tables into session-level tables and subsequently into user tables. 3) Stitching together anonymous and user events based on pseudo-user IDs. RudderStack Profiles abstracts all this complexity and months of effort behind a few drop-downs and a submit button. While I haven't personally checked out the product yet, I believe it has the potential to be a game changer in making data warehouses more accessible to marketers. One aspect to note is that both EL (Extract and Load) and event collection need to be performed through Rudderstack for this solution to work. While this is a great start, it would be amazing to see this concept implemented in a more vendor-neutral way. I mean, a solution that can comprehend the "schemas" of all the popular vendors and generate the golden record, regardless of the vendor(s) used by the customer.
