D365BC Wave 2 2021: Account schedules – Budget Name filter for columns and more templates added

Hello there Dynamics 365 Lovers!

Are you ready for the new features under the Finance module of Dynamics 365 Business Central ?

Account schedules allow businesses to quickly generate custom G/L reports used to arrange accounts in the chart of accounts in ways that are suitable for presenting information about those accounts. One of the primary functions of account schedules is to provide a location for calculations that cannot be performed directly in the chart of accounts, such as creating subtotals for groups of accounts that can then be included in new totals and used in other totals.

Microsoft included even more templates in the 2021 release wave 2 plan to help its users to get started more easily. Users can now create a filter based on Budget Name and an account schedule that reports on actual versus budgets for both a budget and a forecast (a second budget), which is frequently required for financial departments.

Let’s now take a look in these new configurations.

First, select icon and enter Account Schedules, then choose the related link.

Microsoft has added several new account schedule templates to assist users in getting started quickly when creating custom G/L reports with account schedules. ANALYSIS, REVENUE, and CASHFLOW account schedules are now available in demonstration and trial (setup data only) companies.

To access the new feature, simply select a specific row, in this case the Revenue Account Schedule, click Process, and then Edit Column Layout Setup.

It will take you to a new page called Column Layouts, where you will see the Budget Name field, which allows you to filter on a specific budget (or budgets) for that column. You can create account schedules that report on actual versus budget figures for both a budget and a forecast in this manner (which is a second budget).
