Event Signage 101: Everything You Need for A Successful Event

If you’re planning an event, event signage shouldn’t be an afterthought but rather an important part of the overall planning for your event. From our experience, some people do not think about signage immediately when they are planning an event. They focus on theme, décor, location, food, drinks, music, games, prizes, and other details. However, signage is a big part of every event and should be part of the planning process from the start. Event signage is not only an added decoration but could be the spotlight for your event as an homage to your brand or the event’s theme. Event signage is also important for directing guests to parking areas, helping guests make their way around the event, designating areas for staff versus guests, and so much more.

Whether you’re planning a community event such as a health fair or you’re planning a corporate retreat and awards dinner, the proper event signage will ensure a successful event. Here are some of the best ways to incorporate event signage at your event:

Wall Graphics

This is an impressive way to brand your next event. Wall graphics are incredibly versatile and can be used to cover large wall areas with the event’s logo, history, floor plan, etc. but can also be used in more non-traditional ways by wrapping stairs, escalators, elevator doors, and more. Incorporating wall graphics in these ways can help extend your branding in some otherwise neglected areas.

Photo Ops

Get foot traffic moving to areas that might be less busy or keep guests from going down certain hallways by blocking them with photo ops. These can also give your event an interactive feel by creating several photo opportunities guests can share on social media putting your event on blast. These photo ops can take many forms – from a backdrop covered in your logo or hashtag to large cut-outs that guests can poke their faces out through. The possibilities are endless!

Banners

Incredibly useful indoors and outdoors, banners are the most traditional form of event signage. While in the planning phases, banners can announce your event to passersby well in advance because they are budget-friendly and a great way to make a bold statement about your brand or event. They can also be used to share important information about your event including admission fees, hours, etc.

Wayfinding Signage

As the event planner, one of the ways to ensure the event is a positive experience for all guests is by making it easy for them to navigate the space and find everything they may be interested in. Whether guests are looking for restrooms, elevators, and food stations or looking for the right stage for a presentation, guests that feel lost will get frustrated and not enjoy the event they have worked so hard to plan. Wayfinding and directional signage for your event can take many forms including yard signs, sidewalk signs, banners, flags, tent signage, floor graphics, and more. Arrows and simple text can do wonders in helping guests find their way.

Digital Signage

Digital screens showcasing where to go or what’s coming up at the event will help keep guests informed. Digital displays are also a great way to showcase more of your brand’s messaging and direct them to your website, app, or other information to keep them engaged even after the event is over. Strategically placed throughout your event, digital signage also allows for announcements of last-minute updates to the schedule, for example.

Regardless of how small or large, your event is, we understand the hours of work that can go into planning a successful event.
