5 ways to get 500 horsepower in your Mitsubishi Evo X

So you’ve been driving your Evo X around for the past couple of months. It’s a fun car, but you’re just looking for a little bit more juice to really maximize the fun. Luckily, we have the guide to get you there in just 5 easy steps. We also sell the parts so feel free to click on any of the photos and you can go straight to purchasing (if you’re ready to go fast that is).

1. FUEL PUMP

These Cars love their fuel when you let that 4b11t scream down the track. To keep up with the thirst, you’re going to need a bigger pump. These options are our best recommendation.

- WALBRO 450LPH IN TANK FUEL PUMP INSTALL KIT
- WALBRO 255LPH IN TANK FUEL PUMP INSTALL KIT
- AEM 320LPH E85 PUMP INSTALL KIT

2. FUEL INJECTION

Now that you’re pumping all of that fuel, we can’t let it bottleneck in the lines. To fully quench this beast, you’re going to need to up the injector size. Something between 1000-1300cc is what we recommend to get the job done.

1-Injector Dynamics ID1300x Fuel Injectors
2-Fuel Injector Clinic 1200cc Injector set

3. turbocharger

Ah yes. The Notorious sound of boost that keeps you coming back to 4 cylinders. You’re going to want to make sure you can move enough air through your motor while withstanding the test of time (and horsepower) which is going to require an upgraded turbo. The ATP Bolt-on Series is our recommendation. This Turbo is known to bring the torque on a little bit later in your Evo’s power-band, causing less drive-train issues. keeping everything where it’s supposed to be.

4. Tune

This is where the mad scientists of the Dyno world live. No, I'm not talking about the Jurassic period. Unless you’re comparing the sound of a 500whp Evo X ripping a dirt nasty 2nd through 4th gear pull to a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Tuning is where all of this extra fuel and turbo upgrades are going to mix into a combination of air and fuel which will unlock the godly tier level that you're about to buckle up for. Bring it to somebody you know works on Evos. They will have your car running like it always should have.

5. Intercooler/Intake

Now this list is really built around the first 4 things, fuel, more fuel, turbos and a tune. HOWEVER. Being MAPerformance, we care about the longevity of your car which is why the 5th step on our list, is to purchase a cold air intake, and an intercooler. Your motor is going to need to chill out a little bit once you throw some more power at it and we want to make sure those new parts stay happy. We have our MAPerformance in house intake and intercooler kits, we also carry many great, high quality brands that you can find here.

-Maperformance intercooler/intake kits

-ets cold air intake kit

-ets intercooler upgrade kit

All of this together is going to cost you roughly $5k. Not bad to make a significant jump in power gains!

Now Ideally, you want to keep your car under 450ft/lbs on the stock block to keep it happy. Anything over that, you’re not only rolling the dice. You’re putting those dice right through the side of your block to have a jousting match with your connecting rods.

A few other things to consider to make your new 500whp Evo a great car overall is a Brake upgrade, Catback Exhaust system, suspension to handle those turns, a clutch upgrade, and our Clutch Master Cylinder upgrade.

There you have it. Congrats on making it through this list. We can’t wait to help you redefine fast!

Well, there you have it. you have all the steps to achieving 500whp on your evo 10.
