Gehenna: Where Death Lives

I actually loved this movie & thought it was extremely good with a plot that was fantastic. This was a really good horror movie I want to watch with my man! I haven't seen it in a while so I forgot most of the story but remember it was good!

Overall, the movie is good. The ending is very scary because of the curse. Decent horror movie for horror fan.

This is a low-budget horror. But the budget isn't a prerequisite to good/bad films. There are plenty of low-budget films that are amazing. This isn't one of the good ones. I'll do my best to review without spoilers. Had to check Reddit to understand the underlying tale behind this movie. To my surprise, this film was based on a real Chamorro legend. The source material is a solid concept for a movie. Yet, this film falls flat on delivery. To begin, the characters are flat and two-dimensional. Their acting is terrible and the bad/good character arcs are obvious from the beginning. No one is interesting at all. The setting was somewhat cool. Bunkers are scary. Urban legends are scary. Yet, there were some weird plot devices that didn't need to be used at all (time travel, in MY horror movie?). Some parts of the plot felt forced at best. The worst sin being the one guy that "gets it" and explains to the audience what the legend is. And why is everyone's "biggest regret" somehow connected to death? Can't someone regret disappointing their parent or not reaching their goals like the rest of us? It's like the director read about the legend but half-assed the rest. Shame. This film could have been so much better. 1.5/5. 1 star for cool source material. Half a star for the potential. Minus the rest for...well, the rest.

This middle-half of the movie is a snooze-fest, the actress's acting is awful in the beginning, and the ending is a failed "twist." This film did an intriguing plot 0 justice.

On my opinion it can be its own genre: Horror movies where the actors or bad but trying to act. Cliche filled plots where a group of people get haunted or picked off one by one. There are movies like this that while cliche and bad acting itï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s still very enjoyable in a cerain way. I never felt scared during this movie, not hiding under my covers. Instead Iï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)m getting shear enjoyment guessing which one of the characters die first or just waiting for the shittiest one to get whatï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s coming to them. Gehenna completely delivers in that sense. I found that the cinematography and special practical effects or pretty impressive and unsettling. The acting and plot simply doesnï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)t let me take it too seriously and Iï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)m okay with that. If youï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)re a fan of carefully cheesy horror films then grab your popcorn and enjoy this one. If youï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)re looking for a genuinely scary movie or take this movie serially then youï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)re wasting your time watching this one.

it alright. but very interesting ending. but mostly disappointed at same time. the cast it funny and okay to watch. but the horror of jumpscare is okay. but really nothing a evil spirit or creature at every sence. it just them being insane and dies or kill themselves. 🤕57% tomatoes🤕 54% 6.7/10

i live on Saipan and was hoping for a famous movie to happen about our island. i strongly disagree with this one. twist at end was good, plot and acting not so good. but seeing my island is always beautiful
