2024 Trade Deadline

Raptors add Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji in trade with Jazz

Veteran big man Kelly Olynyk heads to Toronto in deal than sends a first-round pick and 2 players to the Jazz.

Veteran forward Kelly Olynyk is headed to Toronto in a deal with Utah.

Toronto continues to remake its roster this season, agreeing to acquire Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji from the Utah Jazz on trade deadline day, the teams announced Thursday.

Raptors get:

  • Kelly Olynyk
  • Ochai Agbaji

Jazz get:

  • Otto Porter Jr.
  • Kira Lewis Jr.
  • 2024 first-round pick

What trade means for Raptors: Olynyk brings veteran experience to the Raptors’ frontline after the departure of Pascal Siakam to Indiana earlier this year. The center is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 56.2% overall and 42.9% on 3-pointers. Toronto would become the sixth NBA team for Olynyk, who has also played for Boston, Miami, Houston and Detroit before spending parts of two seasons with the Jazz.

Agbaji, a 23-year-old shooting guard, was drafted No. 14 overall by the Cavs in 2022 and dealt to Utah in the Donovan Mitchell trade. He’s averaging 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds over 51 games with Utah this season.

What trade means for Jazz: Porter had two stints this season where he was sidelined by injury, wasn’t currently in the Toronto rotation and has appeared in only 23 games since the start of last season. Lewis made one appearance with the Raptors since getting acquired from New Orleans last month in the deal where Toronto sent Pascal Siakam to Indiana.

Utah also picks up a first-round pick for the upcoming 2024 Draft as its pick in 2024 will go to the Oklahoma City Thunder if it falls outside the top 10.
