FUNDING FOR JOHN WILLIAMSON STATUE HITS HALFWAY MARK

A crowdfunding campaign to build a life-sized bronze statue of country music icon, John Williamson, has hit the halfway mark.

The Tamworth community has drummed up $50,000 to make it happen.

Council says it will cost a total $90,000 to immortalise the star on Peel Street.

The statue is set to be unveiled during the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January.
