49ers practice squad tracker: RB JaMycal Hasty has been added to the practice squad

Kyle’s update, 10:16 a.m.: JaMycal Hasty has been added to the practice squad, per Barrows. As has FB Josh Hokit, per Dave Lombardi and C Dakoda Shepley, per Barrows.

Kyle’s update, 9:57 a.m.: Ross Reynolds went unclaimed, so he reverts back to the 49ers and goes on injured reserve.

The San Francisco 49ers cut their roster down to 52 on Saturday. Today, their attention turns to the waiver wire as the Niners look to fill their 16-man practice squad. If you’re unfamiliar with the rules of the practice squad, you can read more about that here. We’ll see how active the 49ers are on the waiver wire. They’ll have to wait a bit, as the waiver wire order is the same as the 2020 draft order, so San Francisco is 31st in terms of priority. As I’m writing this, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero tweeted out the waiver claims, and the 49ers did not make any. They also didn’t lose any players. So of the 23 players that were released on Saturday, the Niners can now bring them back.

Starting now, at 10:00 a.m. PT, the 49ers can start to build their practice squad roster. I’d expect to see a good portion of the players who were released on Saturday to return to the practice squad, including JaMycal Hasty, Jauan Jennings, and Josh Hokit. Pelissero reported Dontae Johnson has been added to the practice squad. We’ll continue to update as the 16-man roster is filled out.
