Mrs. Jouette was born on February 11, 1929 in Longleaf, Louisiana. She grew up in Forest Hill, Louisiana and eventually married the love of her life, Mr. Edward Jouette, on November 16th, 1946. They moved to Houston and lived in the Heights where they started a family. After their two children were born they moved to the northeast side. There they owned Sunset Realty where she worked selling real estate for many years. They moved to Dayton in the early 80's thinking they would retire.

Duthel and Ed had a passion for gardening and the outdoors. This led to the opening of Trinity Valley Nursery in 1982 which was family operated until Mr. Jouette's passing in 2008. Mrs. Jouette was known for the hundreds of azaleas in her yard she had cultivated from the small plants brought from the nurseries in Forest Hill. She spent many hours on her John Deere tractor planting, watering and fertilizing. When the grandkids came to visit they wanted to ride along with "Maw maw".

Mrs. Jouette loved her Seaport coffee and sweets. She enjoyed a good book and the occasional "gossip" magazine. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she had the decorations to prove it. She talked to her sister Emma B every night and her little dog Prissy was her baby. The thing she probably did the best was love her husband. They had a deep love. Her favorite singer was Elvis and her ringtone for "Paw" was " You Were Always On My Mind". They had a great romance.

In March of this year, Mrs. Jouette suffered a stroke that sent her to San Jacinto Hospital. She received rehab in Kingwood , Texas and continued therapy at Regent Care of Kingwood. A subsequent hospital visit resulted in hospice being called in to help with her final care. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was "Maw" to us all and she will be missed the most!
