PALM BEACH GARDENS — A Bonita Springs artist who has painted since childhood has been selected to create the commemorative poster for the 36th edition of the ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival.

Christine Adele, a professional artist who owns a fine art, mural, and wall finish company, was announced Thursday afternoon as the 2021 ArtiGras poster artist.

The annual event, which features a juried art exhibition, interactive exhibits, children’s activities, live music and demonstrations, will take place Feb. 13-14 at The Gardens North County District Park in Palm Beach Gardens.

Adele's winning entry, titled "Delightful," is an acrylic painting on canvas highlighted by finishing touches with oil paint. The main imagery is the iconic Jupiter Lighthouse surrounded by different types of fish and colorful larger-than-life hibiscuses.

“I spent time in Jupiter several years ago while doing a mural project in Stuart," Adele said. "My children, who were little at the time, spent their days at a horse camp while I worked.

"Nearly every day after work and camp, we’d go to the beach and enjoy the sand, surf and view. My painting reflects the beautiful loving memories I have of that month."

Bonita Springs artist Christine Adele has been selected as the 36th annual ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival commemorative poster artist.

Adele was among eight artists who submitted entries for the festival's 2021 commemorative poster.

This year's theme was "Love of Art." Adele's painting, which took two months to complete, was a perfect fit, said Noel Martinez, chief executive of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, which is producing the event.

"This poster represents the beauty of Palm Beach North," he said. "Its dreamy feel and Florida imagery reminds us that we live in a pretty special place."

Adele, who studied Fine Art at the University of Delaware, Maryland Institute College of Art, and New College of Florida, joined the art festival circuit in 2017.

ArtiGras will be the first time she has been selected as a festival poster artist. She also has been selected as a poster artist for an upcoming show in Sarasota.

Bonita Springs artist Christine Adele has been announced as the 36th annual ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival's commemorative poster artist. Her painting “Delightful," which depicts the Jupiter Lighthouse, was displayed Thursday by (from left) Palm Beach North Chamber CEO Noel Martinez, Palm Beach Gardens City Manager Ron Ferris, Hanley Foundation CEO Jan Cairnes, and Palm Beach Gardens Mayor Carl Woods.

As the 2021 ArtiGras poster artist, she will receive a free booth during the festival.

The annual event, which will be presented by the Hanley Foundationmoved to Palm Beach Gardens this year after spending two decades in Jupiter.

Road construction at the intersection of Central Boulevard and University Boulevard in downtown Abacoa, where the festival was scheduled to be held, necessitated a change of venue, the Chamber said.

Festival organizers looked at a handful of alternate venues before selecting The Gardens North County District Park, an 82-acre athletic and recreation complex on 117th Court North near PGA and Central boulevards.

Officials have not made a decision if the move to Palm Beach Gardens will be permanent or just for 2021.

Tickets are $11 per day with advance purchase. Children 12-and-under are free. For information, visit www.artigras.org/.
