Ep. 22 - Brassavola nodosa

Plant Profile

Want to hear what it sounds like when we thoroughly agree on a plant? ;)

Behold Brassavola nodosa, a fragrant, tough orchid that we have both kept and loved for years. We'll walk through our different approaches and histories with this outstanding windowsill orchid.

Mentioned in this episode:

  • easy beginner Orchids

  • fragrant flowers

Matthew grows both B. nodosa and B. Little Stars (nodosa x cordata), a primary hybrid with smaller, more numerous flowers than B. nodosa, but the same intoxicating nocturnal perfume. The B. nodosa specimen pictured here was a young seedling when he acquired it, and it’s been grown mounted on a piece of cholla wood ever since.

And the Plant Daddies love this species so much, it’s even featured on some of their merch! Click the photo to check out their merch shop!
