This is just a general broadcast concerning the hydnophora corals. They are awesome to have but be sure to give them their own space.
My hydnophora has been on a collision course with the leptostrea since they were both frags about 2 years ago. I put them on the same rock with a lot of space and figured I would just break the rock before they touch, I had about 1/2 inch when I noticed this happen.
It was a lightning fast blitzkrieg in coral terms of about 12 hours. Everything was fine at lights out but overnight the hydnophora decided to strike and I noticed it around 10 the next morning.
They are split up now but it was awesome to see this. Maybe an expert can chime in but I believe it is the equivalent of extruding its stomach over the coral and digesting it. It looks just like Spider-Man himself slung that web, lol.
