Recently, a family of interesting analytical brane solutions were found in $f(R)$ gravity with $f(R)=R+\alpha R^2$ in Ref. [Phys. Lett. B 729, 127 (2014)]. In these solutions, inner brane structure can be turned on by tuning the value of $\alpha$. In this paper, we investigate how the parameter $\alpha$ affects the localization and the quasilocaliz...

... we have defined ¯ α = αk 2 . In this representation, the potential is independent of the parameter k, which implies that the changing the value of k does nothing but magnify or minify the new parameter ¯ α, so we only need to consider different values of B and α to search for resonant modes. The structure of W and W s is shown in Fig. ...

... relation of these quantities is α s < α ′ < α ′′ < 0. This implies that both the effective potential and the corresponding dual one have an interval structure in the range of α 1 < α < α ′ and α 1 < α < α ′′ , respectively, see Fig. 3. Furthermore, it can be seen from Fig. 3 that there is also another interesting quasiwell with singularity for large B and α satisfying the constrain conditions ...

... is clear that large rel- ative probabilities P (m 2 ) for finding massive KK modes within a narrow range −z b < z < z b around the brane location indicate the existence of resonant modes. From Fig. 3, we can see that there is a quasiwell when α → α 1 , which is consistent with what we analyse. So, it seems that we may find resonant modes for small α. ...

We calculate the cross section for scattering processes between graviton emitters on the near side of a Schwarzschild surface and absorbers on its far side, that is black hole constituents. We show that these scatterings allow to directly extract structural observables such as the momentum distribution of black hole constituents. For this we employ...

We evaluate the one-graviton loop contribution to the vacuum polarization on de Sitter background in a 1-parameter family of exact, de Sitter invariant gauges. Our result is computed using dimensional regularization and fully renormalized with BPHZ counterterms, which must include a noninvariant owing to the time-ordered interactions. Because the g...

I analyze the Higgs mechanism at the graviton level inside the non-linear theory of massive gravity. In the standard formulation, the graviton mass appears as a parameter multiplying the whole massive action and it cannot appear dynamically. Then the theory contains three free-parameters, namely, two inside the potential and the graviton mass. The...

In a recent paper we showed how Starobinsky-like inflation could emerge from dilaton dynamics in brane cosmology scenarios based on string theory, in which our universe is represented as a three-brane and the effective potential acquires a constant term from a density of effectively point-like non-perturbative defects on the brane: "D-particles". H...

The negative results in the search for Kaluza-Klein graviton modes at the LHC, when confronted with the discovery of the Higgs, has been construed to have severely limited the efficacy of the Randall-Sundrum model as an explanation of the hierarchy problem. We show, though, that the presence of multiple warping offers a natural resolution of this c...

... Analogously, on a thick brane, gravitational resonances are closely related to massive gravitational modes, which was first proposed by Gremm in Ref. [23]. For the GR-brane, gravitational resonances have been studied in detail in Refs.24252627, but there are few literatures [28] exploring gravitational resonances on f (R)-brane. Considering the f (R) gravity is so concise and successful, studying gravitational resonances in different f (R)-brane models may help us to understand more properties about gravitational resonances as well as f (R) gravity itself. ...

In this paper, we investigate various $f(R)$-brane models and compare their gravitational resonance structure with the corresponding general relativity (GR)-branes. Starting from some preexisting thick brane solutions found in general relativity (GR-brane), we derive thick $f(R)$-brane solutions such that the metric, scalar field and scalar potential coincide with those of the corresponding GR-branes. We find that for branes generated by a single or two canonical scalar fields, there is no obvious distinction between the gravitational resonance structures of the GR-branes and corresponding $f(R)$-branes. Then, we discuss the branes generated by K-fields. In this case, there might exist huge difference between {the} GR-branes and $f(R)$-branes.
