It's well established that the members of TOOL are big fans of Rush. As it turns out, the feeling is mutual — at least for one member of Rush.

Last night at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, guitarist Alex Lifeson joined TOOL onstage and played their 10,000 Days standout "Jambi" with them. Together, this powerhouse prog supergroup even interpolated a bit of Rush's "A Passage to Bangkok" for good measure.

As is TOOL's way, filming were forbidden, so only shitty, surreptitiously-shot fan footage exists of the momentous collaboration. (We'll leave it to you to track that down, if you so choose.)

"What an honour and delight it was playing with one of my favourite bands last night," Lifeson enthused on Instagram after the collab. "I've loved Tool since the first time I listened to them. They are such a great band and I am lucky to call them friends.

"One of the many highs of the evening was gifting my Epiphone Les Paul to Adam Jones," the Rush guitarist noted along with a photo of the handoff. "His playing is inspirational and speaks to my soul like no other guitarist. Respecto, brother."

TOOL's 2023 touring wraps up tonight with a second show in Toronto. No word on whether Lifeson will make another appearance.
