Girls basketball: Princeton Logan Lions roar to 7th grade SRC championship

Princeton Logan Junior High captured the seventh-grade SRC girls basketball championship, defeating top seed Bureau Valley 34-13 Wednesday night at LaSalle. Princeton Logan Junior High defeated top seed Bureau Valley 34-13 to capture the 7th grade SRC championship Wednesday night in LaSalle.

Avaya Koning led the No. 2 Lions with 10 points with Payton Brandt adding eight and Anna Ellis six.

The Lions reached the championship by defeating Streator 44-15 and Peru 39-9.

In the eighth-grade tournament, No. 1 Ottawa defeated No. 2 Bureau Valley 40-25 for first place. Scorers for the Storm were Libby Endress (10), Dani Morris (6), Sierrah Taylor (6) and Mya Nugent (3).

Logan beat host LaSalle Lincoln 27-6 for third place in the eighth-grade tournament Thursday.
