Self Organized Network (SON)
SON is server based zonal tool optimization solution.
BSNL procured SON Servers for all four zones in PH VIII.4 project.
Few major functions that can be carried out using SON are
 ANR (Automatic Neighbour Relation): Addition/deletion/update neighbour
definition.
 Coverage Optimization: Optimizing coverage to compensate cell outage/traffic
management by adjusting antenna tilt (RET) and power.
 RF Optimization like SC Reuse, PRACH Optimization, GSM Freq Optimization.
 Sleeping Cell Resolution & Cross Antenna Detection.
Self Organized Network (SON)
 Main Input Requirement:- Accurate site location (Lat-Long) and cell
azimuth is the key factor to get best results from SON.
 SON can operate in Open loop & Close loop
 In open loop, changes are not directly implemented by SON but it will
generate output in a file containing recommended changes.
 In close loop, SON implements recommended changes automatically.

Result contain name of cells (Source & Destination) which are crossed.
Confidence: Low/Medium/High indicates confirmation level of detected cross antenna.
Cell Outage Compensation Module
This module monitors the
target (Adjacent) cells for
outage. If outage is detected,
modifies the tilt and CPICH
power in increasing steps until
the cell is active again.
If congestion is detected on a
compensation cell after
mitigation, the mitigation is
reduced.

 MH Circle has developed inhouse KPI WEB Portal for network performance
monitoring.
 Multivendor Support:- Includes Nokia, ZTE and Alcatel .
 Multi Technology Integrated Platform:- Includes Multiple Tech 2G, 3G, 4G and
traffic, KPI reports, availability reports are integrated in single portal.
 Intelligent Reports:- Along with regular KPI reports, intelligent reports are developed
to provide deeper insights into network behavior, predict potential issues, and
suggest optimization strategies.

  • 3. Self Organized Network (SON) SON is server based zonal tool optimization solution. BSNL procured SON Servers for all four zones in PH VIII.4 project. Few major functions that can be carried out using SON are  ANR (Automatic Neighbour Relation): Addition/deletion/update neighbour definition.  Coverage Optimization: Optimizing coverage to compensate cell outage/traffic management by adjusting antenna tilt (RET) and power.  RF Optimization like SC Reuse, PRACH Optimization, GSM Freq Optimization.  Sleeping Cell Resolution & Cross Antenna Detection.
  • 4. Self Organized Network (SON)  Main Input Requirement:- Accurate site location (Lat-Long) and cell azimuth is the key factor to get best results from SON.  SON can operate in Open loop & Close loop  In open loop, changes are not directly implemented by SON but it will generate output in a file containing recommended changes.  In close loop, SON implements recommended changes automatically.

  • 6. ANR Module (Automatic Neighbour Relation) This module defines the neighbour based on available cell data. Select the cells from particular BSC/Region
  • 7. ANR Parameter to set before execution Set the Parameters like Evaluation period Inter RAT/ Intra RAT Mode of execution: Open loop/Close loop
  • 8. ANR Common Parameter Configuration Select common parameter Config file which contains Distance to be considered for addition/deletion of relation One directional or Bi- directional And default HO parameters
  • 9. ANR: Schedule the execution Execution of module can be scheduled for particular time or can be executed immediately

SC (Scrambling code) reuse Module Execution Set the Parameters like Start & End of maintenance window: SON execute recommended SC changes during this time window in case of close loop execution. Max collision distance, Tier count, Min HO attempts to detect collision, HO monitor period. Maximum iteration: if set higher than 1, the module will try iterative approach to find better solution Mode of execution: Open loop/Close loop

  • 19. Cell Outage Compensation Module This module monitors the target (Adjacent) cells for outage. If outage is detected, modifies the tilt and CPICH power in increasing steps until the cell is active again. If congestion is detected on a compensation cell after mitigation, the mitigation is reduced.
