  Much of the music of Shy’m is slick and highly refined, sometimes to the extent that it loses any sign of personal touch. At other times it is sentimental and bursting with raw emotion as heard on slower dramatic ballads like “Veiller tard”. Despite her fluctuations in musical form one constant is that she is an audacious pop star who has succeeded in making fashionable and commercially appeasing songs for the masses. She is not afraid to build an image for her self and subvert it. Many may question her frequent changes in style as a continuos trying of her audience and subsequently a potential jeopardy to her career; however, her tendency to shake things up is what gives her music its vitality.

  Though her songs are great on record they are even more exciting live. She has performed on multiple talk shows and arenas across the world leaving the same impression of complete astonishment. She has amazed audiences with a computer backing track as well as with a large backing band and group of accompanying dancers. Her voice is clear, strong and can tackle denser soul songs as it can bubblegum pop.

  Due to the language barrier she has not quite been able to tap into the mainstream in the United States, but has been met with a warm welcome to those who have heard her music. Her success In Europe is a different story. Her 2006 debut album “Mes Fantaisies” entered the top 10 almost instantly and her popularity has not let up. The storm of hysteria that her debut started doesn’t seem likely to subside anytime soon.
