Upgrades At MTS Centre Create Obstructed Views For Upper-Level Jets Ticket Holders

The loge seating added to the upper level of the NHL Jets' MTS Centre has "created obstructed views for ticket holders behind the loges," according to Paul Friesen of the WINNIPEG SUN. Tuesday's first preseason game "revealed the problem," and photos were posted to Twitter. Season-ticket holder Jesse Nicholls, who sits in section 323, said that the Jets "told him they also only learned about the problem on Tuesday." Nicholls: "It's safe to assume they saw those seats and knew it was going to be a problem before Tuesday. It's their building." Friesen notes upper-level season-ticket holders "just renewed their contracts, committing, in Nicholls' case, [C]$2,500 per seat for another three years." Jets Senior Dir of Corporate Communications Scott Brown said that “'less than 200' seats have dramatically different views of the ice compared to last season." He added that "reducing the cost of the obstructed tickets ... is not an option being considered" (WINNIPEG SUN, 9/25). In Winnipeg, Geoff Kirbyson notes Jets season-ticket holder Kyle Goldstine, who sits in section 305, "quickly discovered he couldn’t see a large portion of the Jets’ offensive zone for the first and third periods." Goldstine: "We’re paying thousands of dollars for our seats and we can’t see anything." Goldstine, who has had season tickets since the NHL returned to Winnipeg in '11, said that he is "not sufficiently annoyed to give them up, but he would like to be relocated" (WINNIPEG FREE PRESS, 9/25).
