The middle of the week has never been so special — or sadistic. Netflix's newest coming-of-age series Wednesday, from the twisted mind of Tim Burton and based on the character of Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family, has finally arrived.

The new horror fantasy tale follows Wednesday Addams as a student at the fictional yet ever-spooky Nevermore Academy, a private boarding school populated with teenage Outcasts from all walks of life. It's while at school that Wednesday steps into her own, mastering her emerging psychic ability, solving supernatural mystery after supernatural mystery, and untangling herself from the social spider web of Nevermore. The relationships Wednesday makes at the school are complicated, to say the very least, yet some of the most important relationships she'll ever make.

The cast of Wednesday is a mixture of rising stars portraying her Nevermore classmates, younger stars catching their big break, and veteran actors stepping into larger-than-life, beloved, and TBH, iconic roles. Wednesday's cast members are what make the teenage storm cloud's story so captivating, drawing you into a familiar yet brand new world with terrifying ease. Don't you just love the feeling of goosebumps?

Below, meet the hauntingly talented cast of Wednesday and learn more about the characters they portray.

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams

Jenna Ortega takes on the titular role of the series, breathing new life into an iconic character. Wednesday Addams is the notoriously gothic, death-obsessed daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams. Jenna's 2022 version of Wednesday is the first time the character will be depicted as a teenager and as a Latina. In her episode of Teen Vogue Character Study, Jenna revealed just how eerily perfect she was the role — she's been “compared to Wednesday” all of her life. “Because I’m very dry and I don’t think people can tell when I’m being serious or when I’m being sarcastic," said Jenna.

Jenna has previously starred in films like Yes Day, The Fallout, Scream (2022), and A24's X. Prior to being crowned a scream queen, however, Jenna was best known for her roles in Jane the Virgin and Disney's Stuck in the Middle. She'll soon star in 2023's Scream 6 and the crime thriller Finestkind.

Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin

VLAD CIOPLEA/NETFLIX

Tyler Galpin is officially described as “a townie who strikes up an unlikely friendship with Wednesday Addams,” who “has a troubled relationship with his father, the local sheriff.”

“Tyler's got some daddy issues,” Hunter Doohan confirms to Teen Vogue. When we first meet Tyler, he and Wednesday exchange rom-com level banter over a broken espresso machine. But there's a lot more to Tyler than meets the eye, especially as he's one of the many characters in the show who also harbors a dark secret. Tyler's depth and duality is what initially drew Hunter to the character. “He's got this whole other side to him that was so thrilling [to play],” teases Hunter.

The 28-year-old actor and writer from Arkansas has previously appeared in Netflix's What/If, the Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told, and Showtime's Your Honor starring Bryan Cranston.

Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair

Enid Sinclair is Wednesday's werewolf roommate at Nevermore Academy. In her episode of Teen Vogue Character Study, Jenna Ortega described Wednesday and Enid's dynamic as “storm cloud and sunshine." Wednesday and Enid experience friction at the beginning of the series due to their majorly differing personalities.

“I really liked that Enid was the one who tries to break Wednesday a little bit, like tries to get under her skin and bring out her softer side, because I love the polar opposites deal they have going on,” Enid actress Emma tells Teen Vogue. “I really was excited to do that.”

But according to Emma, becoming such a bright and cheery character was a bit of a challenge. “I do not have that much energy in real life,” Emma says. “When you have to keep that up all day, it can be a little challenging, but I think that's also the most fun because I haven't really gotten to play a role like her before. Also, her clothes and her fashion sense, I loved putting on those costumes every day.” Emma's portrayal of Enid is her breakout, one of her most signifiant TV roles to date.

Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe

VLAD CIOPLEA/NETFLIX

Xavier Thorpe actor Percy Hynes White agrees with Hunter Doohan — his character is another with total daddy issues. “[Xavier wants] to be accepted and understood and to have a trusting connection,” Percy tells Teen Vogue. “However closed off Xavier might be, I think that's really what he's after.”

The Nevermore Academy student, per his official description, is “charismatic and supernaturally artistic" and “comes from wealth thanks to his celebrity psychic father.” Percy says that he chose to play Xavier as a “tortured artist.”

“I thought it was an interesting kind of complicated character,” he explains. “He's suspicious, but he is also flirty… charming but untrustworthy.” The 21-year-old Canadian actor previously appeared in the films Edge of Winter and A Christmas Horror Story and the television series Between. Percy is perhaps best known for his starring role in Fox's 2017 X-Men series The Gifted as Andy Strucker.

Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay

Every school has its reigning queen bee — and Nevermore Academy's is Bianca Barclay. Per the character's official description, popular girl Bianca descends from a long line of Sirens with a mesmerizing power to persuade. Her blazing silver eyes assist with that, of course. “I had to have this steely exterior, which was very helped by the contacts, but I also really wanted to balance the softness that I believe is in Bianca,” actress Joy Sunday tells Teen Vogue. “That was the biggest challenge. But she was so much fun to play and to be gregarious with it all. It was lovely getting to be Bianca.”

Deep down, Joy believes that all Bianca wants is “to be able to trust that people love her for who she is." If the show were to be greenlit for a second season, that's what Joy hopes Bianca can explore: “Trust in, openness with, and softness with others.”

Hailing from New York City, the Nigerian-American actress first trained at LaGuardia High School and ultimately graduated from University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts with an honors degree in Critical Studies. Joy has appeared in a number of films and series prior to Wednesday, including MacGyver, Good Trouble, Bad Hair, Dear White People, and 2022's Dog starring Channing Tatum. With a handful of projects on the horizon, Joy will surely be gracing your screens again soon.

Ajax actor Georgie Farmer is best known for his role as Jake Crossley in the British Disney show Evermoor, as well as his appearances in Ministry of Curious Stuff and the USA Network's Treadstone.
