THE MILITARY’S premier parachute display team will glide into the Tees Valley tomorrow.

The RAF Falcons continue their display season by jumping into the Skylive Airshow in spectacular style.

Tomorrow (Saturday, May 28) sees the popular event return to Durham Tees Valley Airport, with this year’s show promising a mix of jet propelled thrills followed by an evening of live music.

Based at RAF Brize Norton in Carterton, Oxfordshire, the RAF Falcons consist of 15 members, including 10 display jumpers.

In October they introduced four new enthusiastic team members for the 2016 display season.

Corporal Alastair Donald, who is in his first year with the team, said: “It is a very steep learning curve initially, but I will feel proud to represent the Royal Air Force whilst jumping into the Skylive Airshow under the red, white and blue canopy.”

The RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team has conducted professional and challenging descents from up to 12,000ft for over 50 years.

Flight lieutenant Simon Owen, deputy officer commanding the Falcons, said: “We have trained and honed our skills throughout the winter months and during the display season so far.

“We very much look forward to meeting everyone after putting on a fantastic display.”

The event also includes displays by The Red Arrows, The Blades Acrobatic Display Team and The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

There will be static aircraft on the ground, a funfair, classic cars and fire engines, a stunt bike show and fun fair, plus live music which begins at 5.30pm.

Gates open at 9am but exact timings of the displays won’t be announced until the day.

Tickets are priced £16.50 adults, £5.50 children 5-15 and concessions £11. Onfield parking is £5.50. For full details, visit skyliveevents.co.uk
