AQUILO IN CONCERT:
Sadness has never sounded sweeter than in the dream pop tunes of British duo Aquilo. The pair's beautifully melancholic music combines ambient elements with soulful vocals, and the result is an arresting sound that is at once minimal and completely engrossing. At their mesmerizing live shows Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher remain calm and focused, nailing lush vocal harmonies while layering live synth and guitar atmospherics on gauzy cuts like "You There" and "Losing You." Their low-key approach belies the powerful impact of their music, and fans can't help but be drawn in by the seductive blend of timbres and textures they conjure up.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher grew up across the street from each other in England's Lake District. They played in rivaling rock bands in high school, and independently began producing electronic music following graduation. After hearing each other's work they decided to write a song together, and things instantly clicked in the studio. They made their debut as Aquilo in 2013 with the tracks "You There" and "Calling Me," both of which racked up plays on Soundcloud and garnered airplay on BBC Radio 1. Their rise continued in 2014 with a self-titled EP and a high-profile set at Glastonbury that led to a deal with Island Records. Since then they've shown no signs of slowing, releasing three more EPs and a live album that showcases their captivating concerts. With their acclaimed single "Silhouette" generating big buzz in 2016 and a full-length debut album in the works, Aquilo has fans dying to experience their cathartic live shows in the flesh.
Seeing Aquilo at the Teragram Ballroom was hands down one of the best nights of my life. Ben and Tom never fail to put on an incredible show. Flawless performance in a gorgeous venue. <3
Amazing show. Aquilo had great rapport with the audience. the ambiance lighting set the mood perfectly an the singing was amazing.
If Moody Atmospheric Pop is your thing- Aquilo is your band. These two front men, Tom and Ben, are super talented and charming despite being a bit shy. Ben's vocals are mesmerizing and the four man band put on a great show. The Teragram Ballroom is also a great venue. It is an intimate throw back perfect to watch a band like this (with super convenient parking across the street and a hotel just west of the theater with good (but expensive) eats). The warm up band, Flora Cash was also a great new find! Next time Aquilo is in town we will be there.
Aquilo was amazing! They don't disappoint, they're are such amazing artists and with so much talent I wish more people would see that !

Aquilo was absolutely amazing! I have loved this band for three years now and finally saw them in Columbus a couple of days ago. I ran into Tom before the show and he was so sweet and talked to us and took pictures. After the show they hung out by the bar and met everyone. They didn't rush it and got pictures, they seemed like they enjoyed it. I recommend seeing them to everyone
these guys are amazingly talented, Tom Higham has a gorgeous voice and Ben Fletcher engages with the audience on keyboard and guitar. Brilliant show. Id highly recommend seeing them!
I stumbled upon Aquilo, and wanted to check them out. They were completely amazing, raw talent, and one of the best bands we’ve seen. They were absolutely mesmerizing!
Wish they played more of their popular songs. Glad they played Silhouette.
