KM Malta Airlines Begins Operations: Daily Malta-Vienna Flights Introduced

KM Malta Airlines, Malta's new flag carrier, has commenced daily flights to Vienna, marking a significant step in connecting Malta with Central Europe for both leisure and business travelers.

KM Malta Airlines, Malta’s newly inaugurated state-owned airline, has officially launched operations with daily flights to Vienna, taking over the mantle from Air Malta since 31st March 2024. Utilizing a modern Airbus A320neo, the airline aims to maintain and strengthen the vital air link between Malta and Vienna, supporting tourism and business travel between the two destinations.

The launch was celebrated at Vienna Airport on 4th April 2024, with notable attendees including Natasha Meli Daudey, the Maltese Ambassador to Austria; Corinna Ziegler, Marketing Manager of the Malta Tourism Authority office in Vienna; Walter Fehsler, Sales Manager Austria for KM Malta Airlines; and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

Julian Jäger expressed satisfaction with the establishment of KM Malta Airlines, highlighting the significance of the Malta-Vienna route for both the airport and the popular Mediterranean destination. The airline’s daily flights promise convenient travel schedules that cater to a wide range of travelers, enhancing connectivity and fostering tourism growth.

David Curmi, Executive Chairman of KM Malta Airlines, shared the airline's excitement for the daily operations to Vienna Airport, underlining the commitment to providing seamless travel experiences for passengers traveling between Malta and central Europe.

KM Malta Airlines operates its Malta-Vienna flights with a modern Airbus A320neo, offering 168 seats across Business and Economy classes, ensuring comfort and a pleasant journey for all passengers. The airline follows a bi-daily schedule, with morning flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and afternoon flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, facilitating flexible travel plans for its clientele.

As the successor to Air Malta, KM Malta Airlines has acquired a fleet of two Airbus A320 and six Airbus A320neo aircraft, serving 17 European destinations. A recent codeshare agreement with Lufthansa further expands KM Malta Airlines’ reach, adding 35 additional European destinations to its network.
