What they do should be illegal

What they do should be illegal. Flat out con artists who are trained to rip off tourists. Any landlord who permits the presence of Best and Fast Change currency exchange should understand the extremely bad vibes they spread on the city tourism experience overall, and the negative impact they have on legitimate merchants. Shame.

SCAM AND ROBBING IN DAYLIGHT

The reviews speak for themselves. They are robbing tourists in broad daylight. Total shame on local authorities and Europe for not prosecuting them. They have you sign paper before they give you the money, when you understand they cut almost 40% of your money, it is too late, as you already signed the papers.
I got 30 Euro in exchange for $50!!!
Exchange rate is 1 to 0.93. With that rate I should have gotten 46.35 euro.

Buyer Beware this woman at Best and Fast Exchange Sorrento is a scam!

Buyer Beware: Best and Fast Change for FX/Foreign Exchange in Sorrento main street where the shops are.

We wanted $200 AUD exchanged as we couldn't find a bank ATM. The lady at the counter didn't upfront tell us how much and when we received 81 EUR instead of 120 EUR less fee we were shocked.

She said she has it all written on the front there is 20% commission. That's on us that we didn't read or ask but just trusted that 1 EUR to 1.756 AUD should give is around 113 EUR.

We told her we didn't want this money but she said she can't refund and we made a choice.

Went to another exchange shop after who said that people come to her every day after being duped.

Buyer be ware. Do not go to this shop.

Have never done this before with a business but this is daylight robbery.

Criminal activity - beware!!

Like all the others here, I too was cheated by this company in venice , twice, once, after I gave them 990 dollars that I counted infront of them, they did small talk and took out 100 and showed me I only gave them 890. Like a quick finger magic trick, at first I believed them.
Then charged me 19.9% fee pointing at a fine print letter from 4 papers hung on the wall which of course I did not see. In the reciept there is no exchange rate or fee charge. I lost 300 dollars , no matter what i did , cried, yelled, called an italian friend who is a lawyer, they would not return my money. Seems very illergal, yet there are many of these in italy.

Complete rip off and they refused to give me my ID back

Extremely rude lady! I wanted to pick up 150€ and she charged me 197€ without telling me what the total would be. I said 25% extra was excessive and I wanted to get a refund. She refused to give me one and REFUSED TO GIVE ME MY ID BACK! I needed to hop on the next train as it’s only leaving once a day so had to leave it behind. I just hope that a nicer person will be at the counter on my way back to the airport. Otherwise I don’t know how to board the plane without an ID…
Overall awful experience

I would give them 0 stars

I would give them 0 stars. They are practicing usary at a level I have never seen. WARNING! DO NOT USE THEM.

They took a 190 USD fee on 500.00 exchange. Didn’t say what their fees are an trick you by place a higher rate for the dollar on their sandwich board
but then gouge you on the fees.

I immediately realized it when I got my money and counted it—he refused to give my 500 back to me. He pointed to a paper with fine print that said it is all there ie the fees and taxes. I made sure everyone who was coming in left as I made a big show of how immoral these fees were —a nominal fee and lower exchange rate is common practice but this is exploitive and immoral. DO NOT USE THEM IN ANY COUNTRY especially Italy.

I also believe in paying it forward o everywhere I go in Italy and I am near a kiosk and see people I go in and warn them.

Don't use that exchange place!!!!

Don't use that exchange place!!!!
I got ripped off. The lady gave me only €170 for £200, even with a discount. It's surprising how some people treat innocent tourists.
When I asked about exchanging £100, she didn't give a clear answer. She just said if I exchange more, she'll give me an extra €7.
She exchanged for less than what showed on the screen, no discounts at all .
Please be careful .

thiefs who rob in daylight

Money changer chain where the staff actively cheats and misleads u by taking about their excellent rates specifically repeatedly and then slips in a 19.9% sales commission on total amount. And refusing to refund.

We reported to the local municipal police patrolling outside the sorrento Italy branch and was told that its also not his problem.

This is major embarrassment to Italian tourism. The money changer shop sits prominently on the major shopping street Corsa Italia in Sorrento. Crooks

An absolute scam/ the signs say what…

An absolute scam/ the signs say what rate you are getting which is a few cents off the actual exchange- to be expected- but then they short you by over 20% and there is nothing you can do. Rookie mistake- glad we didn't exchange a large amount- never again. The italian government really should be ashamed - if they want to practice this way, at least they should have to post the true amounts.

Bloody scammers

Bloody scammers, I gave them my ID to start the procedure of changing £50 to euros and the convertion was something like 67€ by then, when they told me they were giving me just 34€ i told them that it must be a mistake. It wasnt and not just that but since they already had my money on their hands they wouldnt let me cancel the transition after asking how much I would get. And they told me 20% commision so numbers clearly dont match up. Clearly scammers .

Organized theft

Organized theft. Do not exchange money at these kiosks. Not only do you pay an exchange rate fee, you pay an insane 22% or more to the company which will only be presented after the fact, then they will tell you it’s all posted on the wall (in size 10 font.) no refunds or cancelling your transaction—
Serena Seghi “Responsabile Operatività Italia” No help, will respond it’s all “according to Italian law”. Blatantly corrupt and thinly veiled theft!!!

DO NOT EXCHANGE HERE

DO NOT EXCHANGE HERE!

Do not exchange money here! The lady basically hounded me to make an exchange promising the best possible rate, and then an even better rate if I exchanged more money. What she failed to mention was their 20% fee! Thats right, 20%! Before the transaction was over I told her I did not agree with the fee amd wanted to cancel. She proceeded to process the transaction anyway and refused to refund me. Literal robbery, nondisclosure of fees, failure to notify, and fraudulent!

Absoloute SCAM! Do not go here

We tried to exchange $500 AU and were not told about a 20% comission rate! Those Roman scammers took $200 more than they should have, after talking us into a dodgy deal! Do not go to Best and Fast Change, no matter how much you need to, they are absoloute scammers. Go somewhere decent like American Express, who aren't dishonest. This theiving, scammy place should be shut down!

Incredible huge fees!

On 18 January 2019, at Fiumicino airport I sold 1800 malaysian ringgit at received only 284 euro. Almost 1/3 gone in overall charges. I lost almost 100 euros. Be aware of them. I cannot understand how they can be allowed to operate inside airports.
Lesson learned: before approach any exchange, use online conversion tools to easily check how you should get from transaction. Otherwise easily to be robbed by people that base their business on the ignorance of others.

Simply put, they are thieves.

Simply put, they are thieves. We got 7,150 Norwegian Krone for $1,264 USD. That is, we got about $500 USD bitten off with fees.

They do not disclose or talk about their commissions until the transaction is done and they will not reverse it. It is a shame on FCO and Italy that they let these guys operate and see the visitors arriving into the country.

As far as I’m concerned, the Italian government is as responsible for letting a business as abusive as this operate in their country’s biggest airport.
