JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Ballad Health Medical Associates cut the ribbon on a new clinic in Johnson City Thursday.

The new sports medicine and urgent care facility is located at 161 Heart Drive. The clinic is already open and seeing patients.

Dr. Todd Fowler, the Ballad’s sports medicine medical director, said it’s often crucial to treat sports injuries as soon as possible.

“There are some injuries that don’t really need to wait a day or more to get looked at,” Fowler said. “So the sooner we can look at them, the better chance they have.”

Fowler said the clinic can provide services like X-rays, ultrasounds, injections, casting and splinting.

“If we need other tests, we get those done, and then we get them back as soon as possible so we can figure out what they need to make them better and get them back to play or back to work or back to normal function for them,” Fowler said.

Fowler described the combination sports medicine and urgent care clinic as a “one-stop shop” for a variety of health concerns. Sports medicine care is dedicated to one side of the facility and urgent care to the other, but the two practices share a lobby.

According to Ballad Health, the new clinic replaces the nearby Marketplace Boulevard clinic.
