HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WTVY/Gray News) - A woman allegedly checked out of a hotel and told the staff that ‘God’ told her to go on a shooting spree because of the solar eclipse, according to officials.

Florida Highway Patrol said 22-year-old Taylon Nichelle Celestine was driving a purple Dodge Challenger when she entered I-10, WTVY reported.

Within a few minutes, Celestine allegedly fired multiple shots into a vehicle, striking the car multiple times. Officials said the driver was grazed on the arm by a bullet but was able to escape from Celestine.

WTVY reported that the shooting spree continued and Celestine shot at another vehicle, hitting the driver in the neck.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

Authorities were able to pull Celestine over and recovered an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun in the car.

She was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
