WYOMING COUNTY/MCDOWELL COUNTY/MONROE COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Five active brush fires were reported in three counties in southern West Virginia.

According to the West Virginia Division of Forestry, there are three brush fires in Wyoming County, one near Coal Mountain and two at RD Bailey Lake, one in the McDowell County near Iaeger, and one in Monroe County.

A member of the West Virginia Division of Forestry stated that the three of the fires in Wyoming and McDowell Counties are around 250 acres each. All four brush fires are active, and while there are fire lines, the fires are not completely contained at the current time. There are crews are on scene at each location fighting the fires.

According to a member of the West Virginia Division of Forestry, there are no volunteer firefighters at the Wyoming or McDowell County locations, but there are West Virginia Division of Forestry employees at the brush fire in Wyoming County near Coal Mountain, and at the brush fire near Iaeger in McDowell County.

A member of the West Virginia Division of Forestry reported that there are RD Bailey employees at the brush fire location at RD Bailey Lake in Wyoming County, and that West Virginia Division of Forestry employees are reportedly on their way. They also stated that West Virginia Division of Forestry employees and volunteer fire departments are at the brush fire in Monroe County.
