RENTAL RATE SCHEDULE

Port Authority 

All rents paid to the Fraser River Port Authority are subject to a fee that equals 1% of annual rent (to a maximum of $50/year). Fees 

will be put towards an Environmental Contingency Fund that addresses unresolved, historical environmental problems within the 

Fraser River Port Authority’s jurisdiction. This fee will be added to invoices. 

Rent Rate Calculation/Notes 

UPLAND SITES Variable Rent for Port Authority Uplands is based on independent appraisal of 

(lease, licence, or permit)current market value for sites in the area. 

WATERLOTS Variable Rent is based on 8% of Total Utility Value. (For details, see p. 16–17, 

(lease, licence, or permit) Information and Guidelines for Tenants.) 

LOG STORAGE Variable Rent is based on percentage factor relating to storage location and base 

(lease or permit)zonal value. (For details, see p. 15, Information and Guidelines for Tenants.) 

UTILITY LICENCE Variable Rent is 8% of 25% of Waterlot Utility Value. (For details, see p. 16–17, 

Information and Guidelines for Tenants.) Crossing area calculated by 

dimensions of corridor plus minimum 3m buffer on either side. 

Applies to crossings, outfalls, overhead wires, and other uses made 

by public utilities. 

SITE RENTAL BY $500 minimum Rent applies to land or waterlots rented by municipalities for public use 

MUNICIPALITIES and access purposes (eg. parks, public moorage). Not applicable if any 

on-site commercial use. 

SITE RENTAL Filming: $750/day Application fee also applies. See FEE SCHEDULE. 

FOR FILMING Prep/wrap/hold:

tenure prior to submitting an application. This may avoid delays or rejection of applications due to missing information or unacceptable

The Fraser River Port Authority is implementing new fees for tenants and revising some of its existing rental 

rates. The new fees and revised rates will take effect May 1, 2003. 

Q. Why is the Fraser River Port Authority implementing new fees? 

Under the Canada Marine Act, the Fraser River Port Authority must be financially self-sufficient. It is not a taxpayer-supported 

organization and actually pays annual stipends to the federal government. Consequently, revenues must cover costs. Given the rise 

in costs, it has become necessary to implement fees to recover some of the expense of processing applications and servicing tenants. 

Q. Why is the Port Authority revising some of its rental rates? 

Some of the rental rates charged by the Port Authority have fallen behind market rates. The revisions bring them into parity with 

commercially accepted rates and those charged by other government organizations. 

Q. When do I pay the new fees? 

This varies according to the type of fee. In general, most application fees must be paid at the same time the application is submitted to 

the Port Authority for processing. Service fees must be submitted before requests are processed. Detailed instructions are provided on 

the schedules. 

Q. How do I pay the fee? 

Fees can be paid by cash or cheque. Credit cards are not accepted. Payments can also be made in person, delivered by courier, or sent 

by mail to the Port Authority’s office. 

Q. What are the new fees and rental rates? 

Fees are detailed on the Fee Schedule. Rental rates, including those that have not changed, are provided on the Rental Rate Schedule.
