Introduction:
A field, prospecting exploration program was carried out on the
Jessie Lake Property from September 18th to October 5 th 1998 by
Blackstone Development Inc. of Cobalt, Ontario for Redstar Resources
Corporation. The results of this program are summarized in this report.
Location:
The Jessie Lake Property is located in Strathcona Township
immediately south of the village of Temagami; and approximately 100
kilometers north of the city of North Bay in northeastern, Ontario.
(See "Key Map", figure 1; "Major Mining Camps of Northeastern Ontario",
figure 2; and the "Property Location Map ~ Temagami Mining Camp",
figure 3)
Access/Infrastructure:
The Jessie Lake Property straddles Highway 11, Trans-Canada
Pipeline and the Ontario Northland Railway. The property contains several
powerlines, a telephone line, several secondary gravel roads, numerous trails
and a marina. Water supply and access is plentiful and abundant.
The availability of a nearby service sector, municipal services,
housing and a skilled labour force make's this area very attractive for
exploration and mine development.
Property:
The Jessie Lake Property contains 36 unpatented claims, for the most
part, or approximately 97 units; totaling about 3,880 acres or 1552 hectares
in physical size. (See Appendix A and "Claim Map" figure 5 in back pocket
Geology:
Briefly, the Jessie Lake Property is covered by archean-aged
granitic rocks of the Iceland Lake Pluton, felsic to intermediate metavolcanic
flow rocks, and mafic to intermediate metavolcanic flow rocks. Both
metavolcanic suites of flow rocks are intruded by some felsic quartz porhyry
and mafic to ultramafic diorite-gabbro rocks.
(See "Regional Geology" figure 4; and "Claim/Geology Map" - Figure 6
and its accompanying "Legend" Figure 6a in Back Pocket of the Report)
An excerpt from an academic discussion on copper-nickel-platinum
group elements potential and alteration is provided by Jason King Dunning,
geologist, for a better understanding on the styles of mineralization
associated to the Northeast Arm of Temagami area near the Jessie Lake
Property in Strathcona Township. (See Appendix B: Cu-Ni-PGE
Mineralization and Alteration Discussion)
Field Exploration September 1998 Program (part 2):
Blackstone Development Inc., under the guidance of Geologist, Gino
Chitaroni the report's author, and Jason King Dunning, Redstar Resources
Corp., reconnaisance prospected the following areas on the Jessie Lake
Property: (a) Highway 11 corridor from Karol Lake to Strathcona Road
entrance (Temagami Marine Road), (b) Ontario Northland Railway corridor
from Pingue Lake north up to the Temagami Skyline Reserve, (c) Diadem
Copper-Nickel Deposit area and north up to the Strathcona Road; and
finally, (d) the TransCanada Pipeline right-of-Way east of the Wabana
Exploration Office.
(See "Prospecting Maps" in Back Pocket of the Report)
Nine samples were collected for assay during the Jason King Dunning
visit to the Jessie Lake Property. All of the assay results from this sampling,
except for the samples collected at the Diadem Deposit, returned
disappointing precious and base metal values.

Moreover, at the time of the writing and compilation of this report,
maps and assays from a portion of this program were not available. This
work was conducted by prospector's George Pollock and Doug Pringle
from the Haileybury School of Mines, Haileybury, Ontario for Blackstone
Development Inc.. This exploration work concentrated on the Highway 11
corridor and TransCanada Pipeline near the Wabana Exploration Office, and
the west end of the Strathcona Road. The purpose of this prospecting
exercise was directed as a follow-up to the Jason King Dunning visit and
recommendations.
Observations:
At the Wabana Office location on the east side rock-cut of the
TransCanada Pipeline right-of-way, the rocks exhibited, over a wide area,
strong ankerite/carbonate alteration and iron-staining gossan with sections of
disseminated pyrite mineralization hosted in Rhyolite and rhyolite porphyry
rocks.
Sulphide content typically ranges from l -5 0A pyrite +S- minor
chalcopyrite throughout the entire suite of rocks. Two intensely sheared
pyritized, iron-stained zones were observed and sampled. In both sampling
areas minor green fuschite was observed less than 0. Wo.
In 1992, the author collected a sample of drill cuttings from this
approximate location during the pipeline construction of that particular
summer; the sample returned an assay of 0.023 oz/ton Gold. (Sample No.
8150)
The Diadem Deposit is highlited by copper and nickel bearing
pyritized sulphides. Chalcopyrite was also evident but clearly subordinate to
the prevailing pyrite content. Assay results show that significant values of
gold, silver, palladium and cobalt can be obtained from the Diadem Deposit;
while lead values were virtually non-existent and zinc returned values near
negligible results.

4
Also from the reconnaisance work, a fairly long, moderately wide
zone of disseminated pyrite mineralization hosted in sheared rhyolite rocks
was observed on the south side and parallel to the Strathcona Road on Claim
#81212357. The disseminated pyrite content ranged from 4-1007o +I- minor
chalcopyrite (copper). The author collected a sample from this same
location in 1992 which returned an assay ofQ.117% copper (Sample No.
8151).
No economic values of precious or base metals were returned during
this phase of the exploration program; except for the highly significant
values recovered at the Diadem Deposit.
Recommendations:
Further prospecting is warranted in all locations exhibiting
significant "pyrite" sulphide mineralization.
The Diadem Copper-Nickel Deposit and its possible extension, east,
should be examined.
Cu-Ni-PGE Mineralization and Alteration Discussion

CU-NI-PGE MINERALIZATION IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE TEMAGAMI
ISLAND LEUCOGABBRO, A LATE ARCHEAN/EARLY PROTEROZOIC LAYERED
INTRUSION, TEMAGAMI, ONTARIO
Fitzhenry,K.L. , Dunning,J. K . , James,R.S., Gibson,H.L., Laurentian
University, Sudbury, Ontario, P3E 2C6, Lane,T.E., Teck Exploration
Ltd., l First Place, Toronto, Ontario, M5X 1G9, Keays, R.R., Laurentian
University, Sudbury, Ontario, P3E 2C6.
The Temagami Island Leucogabbro (TILG) forms a conformable si 11-like
intrusion 30 km long and 1.0-1.5 km thick within a late Archean
greenstone sequence. Its lower contact with intermediate/felsic flows
and heterolithic volcanic breccias dips at 70 0 ; its upper contact with
mafic greenstones is unexposed and unconformably overlain by Gowganda
Formation metasediments of the Huronian Supergroup {circa 2.4 Ga) . A
zone of pyritic mineralization occurs discontinuously at the base of
the TILG and where the pyrite zone is thickest (10-20m), high-grade
Cu(Zn-Ni-PGE) ore zones occur in the underlying footwall volcanic
rocks.
The most complete stratigraphic section of the sill occurs at the
Temagami Mine, where Cu-rich ore zones were mined from 1955-1970. The
lower 300m of the sill is composed of 10 cyclic units each consisting
of a basal gabbro and upper leucogabbro. The upper 60-70 percent of the
sill consists of several cycles of weakly layered magnetite gabbro that
grades upwards into quartz gabbros. Pervasive greenschist alteration
has completely replaced primary mineral compositions but textural
features permit an estimate of primocryst phases. In the lower third of
the sill, plagioclase +/- pyroxene and olivine form primocrysts in the
gabbros of each cycle; plagioclase is the sole primocryst in the
leucogabbro. Both plagioclase and V-rich magnetite are liquidus phases
in the magnetite gabbros; in the quartz gabbros, quartz is an
interstitial phase; in neither of these rock types is a mafic
primocryst phase recognized. Chlorite normally replaces interstitial
(occaisionally poikiolitic) pyroxene throughout the sill. Within metres
of the contact between the lower and upper portions of the sill a rapid
decrease in grain size coupled with a sharp discontinuity in primocryst
phases suggests that these two zones represent different magma pulses
and compositions.
Sulphide mineralization within the sill occurs only in the 20-30m
thick gabbro that forms the basal portion of the first cyclic unit
above the Pyrite Zone. Pyrite, chalcopyrite and minor pyrrhotite +/-
magnetite occur as 2-3 cm disseminated blebs and as patches up to l m
in diameter within the metagabbro assemblage ab-chl-mu-qz-ankerite-lx.
The percentage of sulphide increases downwards to as much as 10-20
modal percent at the base of this cyclic unit where it is in contact
with the Pyrite Zone.
The Pyrite Zone occurs as discontinuous lenses up to 20 m thick at
the contact between the TILG and footwall volcanic rocks. At Temagami
Mine its stike length is 1.5 km; mining activities indicate its downdip
extension is not greater than 300m. In one well exposed outcrop area a
crude stratigraphy for this zone is recognised which from the footwall

upwards consists of: a)irregular shaped pods of massive pyrite *
chalcopyrite (and minor millerite, seigenite, gersdorffite and
magnetite) up to several metres in diameter, enclosed in fine grained
anorthositic gabbro (now altered to Fe chlorite and quartz); b)a zone
of leucogabbro with interstitial sulphide (py+cpy) - Fe chlorite has
replaced the silicate assemblage; and c)a 3 m thick unit of
leucogabbro/gabbro composed of plagioclase +/- pyroxene (both now
replaced by a chlorite-carbonate assemblage), coarse poikilitic Fe-Ti
oxide (now leucoxene), and minor disseminated pyrite*chalcopyrite. For
this zone Ni+Cu = 1.35 wt *; typical Cu/Ni =l.9Q, and limited PGE data
indicate that Pt+Pd = 150 ppb and Pt/Pt + Pd = 0.25. We believe the
Pyrite Zone formed due to the intrusion of a leucogabbro-sulphide magma
along the basal contact of the TTLG.
The high-grade massive Cu (Zn-Ni-PGE) sulphide mineralization of the
Temagami Copper Mine occurs 10 to 50 m below the base of the Pyrite
Zone. The ore zones occur as irregularly-shaped pods and lenticular
vein-like zones typically 5x20x40 m in size, either entirely within
heterolithic volcanoclastic breccias and/or at the contact of this rock
type with intermediate to felsic flows, and conformable to the volcanic
stratigraphy. The mineralization is comprised mainly of chalcopyrite
with lesser amounts of pyrite. Minor amounts of sphalerite, millerite,
gersdorffite, ramelsbergite, tetrahedrite and galena are also present
and disseminated magnetite is common. The PGM 1 s identified to date
include temagamite, merenskyite, hessite, naumonite, tsumoite and
testbiopalladite. Gangue minerals include ferroan dolomite, calcite,
quartz, Fe chlorite and monazite. The volcanic rocks that host the
sulphide mineralization have been altered to assemblages containing
combinations of sericite, ferroan carbonates, chlorite and
tourmalinization as a result of premineralization regional events. Only
narrow chlorite alteration selvages are directly related to the
sulphide mineralization in the footwall volcanic rocks.
We initated this study to test the hypothesis that the volcanichosted,
Cu-rich, PGE-bearing footwall ore zones represent remobilized
sulphide (via magmatic and/or hydrothermal processes) derived from an
Fe-Cu-Ni-PGE sulphide zone that initially formed at the base of the
TILG in an environment similar to the deep Cu mineralizatin at Sudbury.
In general terms, the results of our study to date support this
hypothesis.

OCCURRENCES OF TOURMALINIZATION IN THE FOOTWALL VOLCANIC SUCCESSION OF THE
TEMAGAMI COPPER MINE, TEMAGAMI, ONTARIO
Dunning, J.K., Gibson, H.L., James, R., and Keays, R.R. (MERC, Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario, P3E 2C6), Lane,
T. (Teck Exploration Ltd., l First Canadian Place, P.O. Box 170, Toronto, Ontario, M5X 1G9)
Tourmaline is a common alteration mineral associated with hydrothermal mineralization in a variety of deposit types including: i)
Cu-Mo-Au Porphyry - Coxheath, Nova Scotia and Los Broncos-Rio Blanco, Chile; ii) Pb-Zn SEDEX - Sullivan Mine, B.C. and Broken Hill,
Australia; iii) Zn-rich VHMS - Kidd Creek, Ontario; and iv) Au-vein mineralization - Dome Mine, Ontario. Tourmaline was first noted on
Temagami Island by geologists in the late 1950's during the start-up phase of mining at the former Temagami Copper Mine. Their initial
interpretation was that the tourmaline was an erratic alteration facies associated with the "pod-type" orebodies in the eastern portion of the
mine area. This conclusion was supported by Colvine (1974) whose study on the alteration facies of the footwall volcanic rocks around the
#4 orebody, pointed to an apparent "boron pipe" leading from the Metadiorite down to orebody. Tourmaline, as noted from all previous
work, was found to occur as disseminated crystals or aggregates: i) replacing mafic fragments in the breccia units; ii) within the volcanic
breccias around massive sulphide mineralization; and iii) as trace amounts within the sulphide orebodies.
This study of the high-grade Cu (Zn-Ni-PGE) orezones in the Footwall Volcanic Succession at the Temagami Copper Mine area has
found tourmaline occurring in a variety of forms throughout stratigraphy such as: i) tourmaline-rich, hydrothermal breccias; ii)
tourmaline veins and veinlets; iii) massive tourmaline patches associated with the tourmaline veins and veinlets in the Thompson Trough
Zone; iv) disseminated tourmaline crystals in the volcanic units, most notably the heterolithic volcanoclastic breccias; and v) radiating,
euhedral tourmaline aggregates within the matrix and clasts of the volcanoclastic breccias in the Thompson Trough Zone. Detailed SEM l
EDS analysis of tourmaline crystals from a number of occurrences from the Footwall Volcanic Succession, several species of tourmaline are
now known to occur including: (i) dravite; (ii) schorl; (iii) uvite; (iv) feruvite; and (v) an unnamed alkali-deficient tourmaline species.
Geochemical studies have shown there to be negligible metal-enrichment with only one tourmaline breccia sample from the
Thompson Trough Zone possessing elevated Au (18 ppb), As (34 ppm), Cd (1.2 ppm), Co (42 ppm), Cr (47 ppm), Cu (98 ppm), Mn (941
ppm), Ni (48 ppm), Ti (Q.06%), V (53 ppm), and Zn (115 ppm). This low metal content supports field evidence that the tourmaline
brecciation event predates mineralization, as low-grade carbonate-quartz-chlorite veins crosscut the tourmaline breccias. In addition, this
also suggests that the tourmaline breccias are pre-mineralization and are not associated with the Cu-rich mineralization event that formed the
high-grade Cu (Zn-Ni-PGE) orezones, as well as the low-grade surface carbonate-quartz-chlorite veins and pods. The disseminated
tourmaline found in association with some of the high-grade orezones possesses complex zonation suggesting a possible pre- to synoreforming
origin, however, the origin of this style of tourmalinization is still under investigation.
