On Location: The Fulfillment Department.

Every department here at TheFireStore plays a role in making this company a success. The Fulfillment Department is no different. Without this valuable piece to our company, how would we be able to get the goods to your doorstep, after all?

We thought it would be fun to show you some behind the scenes photos here in our 27,000 sq. ft warehouse, that hustles and bustles with anywhere from 20-25 Employees, 2 Supervisors, and 1 Manager to make sure that your orders are being packaged with care.

But first, how about some fun facts?

Yearly, our Fulfillment Department sends out 188,000 packages. However, comprised within those 188,000 packages they're sending out over 488,000 items per year. If you lined up all the packages we send yearly, it would extend 3,008,000 inches, or 264,000 feet (50! Miles!) from end to end. Basically, they would extend the length of a professional football field 733 times. Wow. That's a lot of packages!

Now, here is where all that hard work takes place.

We hope you enjoyed a little behind the scenes peek into such an integral part of our business here at TheFireStore.

A new type of flare.

It's time to move on from the old type of road-flare that end up in our landfills, increase water contamination, and have the risk of catching fire.

For the sake of convenience, the environment, and all around usability the Aervoe LED Baton Emergency Saftey Road Flare-Wands are where it's at.

The kit includes 3 single flare-wands, 2 flex-fit tripods and a convenient plastic storage case that also functions as a charging station for the wands.

One flare is chocked full with 15 LED's that can be seen up to half a mile away, are crush-proof, magnetic and waterproof.

You can simply lay this on the ground as you do with any other flare, use as a hand-wand for safety, use underwater, or even use the magnet feature and attach it to a car, truck or any other metal surface.

The features that this kit provides are unreal. It even comes with a way to plug and charge into your wall (AC), into your car (DC), or for your USB port. When Aervoe created this, it's obvious they thought of everything.

If you think you have to be an Emergency Responder to reap the benefits of this kit, guess again. These flare wands would be beneficial at big events, in traffic directing, on construction sites, for trucking, boaters, and even in aviation.

With five flash patterns, including morse code S.O.S, this is the flare-kit for you. Time to get rid of the old, outdated ones and replace with the newer, better, and more efficient.

On Duty with Michael, Firefighter.

On Duty are posts where we highlight employees of TheFireStore who are not only committed to serving our customers throughout the workday, but also spend their free time serving in the industry they love.

What is your job at TheFireStore and what does it entail?

I work in the Customer service department. My job entails many different things from giving customer updates on their orders, taking department orders, tracking orders that are coming from vendors, helping customers select the right product for the job they are trying to do and even just educating customers on the products and the product capabilities.

In what line of service are you and for how long have you been serving?

I am currently in the fire and rescue side of the service and soon will be adding the medical side. I have been in the fire service for about 12 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it; the good, the bad and the ugly.

What do you love most about being a Firefighter?

I’m not sure there is one thing I love most about it. I think I just enjoy all of it! The sense of pride we have for our station, our equipment and what we do is part of it. I like the camaraderie we have as a firehouse with each other; there is something to be said for trusting your life with your partner. The work we do may be dangerous at times, but I love it. There is something so rewarding and fulfilling about helping a person in their time of crisis.

Do you enjoy working in the fire service in both your professional and personal life? Why?

Yes, I do enjoy it. What we do is a lot, but also a lot of fun! There is something fun about having that common interest with your customer and knowing what they are looking for so you can help get the product or service to take care of a specific issue they have. It has also allowed me to give an honest, real world review or insight to into a product we sell. This first hand knowledge has helped customers understand why I recommend a product since I actually have experience using them. It just gives you that much more credibility among customers which is very helpful when you are talking about investing into quality products.

How have you felt your experience has helped you better aid our customers? Any specific examples?

I do very much agree that my experience has aided my customers. In fact, I believe one of the reasons I am good at what I do is because I have the experience and can speak to the customers about the products with first hand information. Boots, gloves, hoods, helmets, and flashlights are the areas that I can really help a customer the most with my experience and knowledge of our products. I love to help them get exactly the product to suit their needs.

Happy Booster Squad: A company whiffle ball game.

Recently, our Happy Booster Squad put together yet another great event for the employees at TheFireStore. As you know, we like to have fun around here, and adding in these monthly morale-boosting events is one of the ways we do just that!

To kick off the Labor Day weekend right, we celebrated with a grab and go picnic lunch, and a fun game of whiffle ball in the parking lot at TheFireStore.

I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

Overall, it was a great time. Congrats to the winning team!

On Scene: Our 9/11 Commemorative Wall

One of the first things you'll see as you come into the front doors by the receptionist desk at TheFireStore is this large collage wall in memory of 9/11.

It was very important to our CEO, Mr. Witmer to make sure that there was a prime location to show our pride for this country and keep the memory of September 11th, 2001 at the forefront of our minds.

Here's a quick highlight on a few of the photos hanging:

343 Fallen Firefighters

This poster that's filled with many brave faces may be familiar to you.  It's the faces of 343 fallen firefighters who lost their lives in the attacks at the World Trade Center.

It's the faces of men, women, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, sons and daughters.

It's a powerful image, and one that helps you to never forget just how brave and courageous these men and women were.

"Band of Dads"

This group of men, known as the "Band of Dads" was comprised of mostly retired FDNY firemen who persistently dug at Ground Zero to look for their missing firefighter sons.

This group of men refused to walk away from from the WTC site until each last piece of debris was cleared. Some of the men were able to find their sons, while others were not so lucky and left brokenhearted.

This photo commemorates these men, their determination, and mostly, the bravery that their sons embodied.

Fallen Heroes Patch

This large framed commemorative patch is another item that you can find on the wall. It's comprised of the City of New York Police Department patch, the FDNY patch, and the Port Authority Police patch.

This gorgeous, large embroidery commemorates the events at the WTC and all the heroes within those organizations who risked their lives to respond to the call of duty.

----

So, next time you come by TheFireStore, be sure to take a look. Stop, reflect, and mostly, remember. Thank you for all that you do.

*For the month of September, a portion of all our proceeds will be donated to the the The September 11th Families Foundation to support the WTC Tribute Project. *

The 10th Anniversary of 9/11; how will you honor it?

September 11th, 2001...a day we will never, ever forget. When thousands of firefighters, police officers and other emergency responders risked their lives to selflessly save others. A day in this country's history that will always be remembered, always be honored, and will always remind of us how things can change in an instant.

With the 10th anniversary of that September 11th day almost upon us--I ask you this, how will you honor it?

How will you stop and remember all of those who were lost in those tragic events, their families, the rescue & volunteer workers, police and firefighters, government officials, and countless others who worked so hard to save them and restore the affected areas?

Whether it be a prayer service, a stair climb, a candle-vigil, a blood-drive, commemorative breakfasts or dinners, giving donations, theatrical tributes, or attending special museum events---we want to hear.

So tell us, what are YOU doing to remember September 11th?

Feel free to leave comments in the comments section below this post or on our Facebook Page.
