Growth Characteristics: Slow growing Columnar Cactus. Branching occurs. Stems are powder blue- brilliant turquoise in colour with between 5-19 ribs. Felted areoles with 1-12 central spines, translucent with a yellow tinge and 8-18 long white bristles. Nocturnal funnel shaped whitish flowers stay open into the next day. Very low maintenance.

Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

Exposure: Sheltered.

Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty.

Moisture: Water around every10-14 days in active growth season. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

Feeding: Feed with a balanced feed at half strength in growing season.

The Pilosocereus Azureus is an elegant columnar variety of cactus branching when mature. Very unique, its stems are a dramatic powder blue-brilliant turquoise in colour turning even bluer with age. Between 5-9 ribs are present with felted areoles set along the margins containing 1-12 straight central spines and 8-18 long white bristles.

Flowering when mature, whitish coloured funnel shaped flowers have reddish or greenish outer segments opening at night with the blooms lasting into the following day.
