Mercy
Mercy, the angelic support, is one of the many Characters in Overwatch. She provides powerful heals and strong buffs to her allies, all while floating gracefully around the battlefield. For more on her, the skills she has and the best ways to play her, continue reading below!
Role
Mercy is an angelic Support character who offers powerful heals and buffs to her team. Her main weapon can be switched from a strong heal beam that constantly heals one target, to a damage buff increasing the damage that target does. Due to her great skills, Mercy is a great support to bring into combat, whether defensively or aggressively.
The downside to Mercy is the rather limited range on her heal, meaning she is often put into danger herself. Mercy players will need to be creative in order to stay alive, and should constantly be moving around and hiding behind cover when possible.

Abilities
Caduceus Staff: Mercy's main weapon, this staff has two functions. The primary attack is a heal, that tethers you to an ally and constantly heals them. The alternate fire shoots a blue tether that increases the damage of whomever is connected to it.
Caduceus Blaster: A secondary weapon, this pistol is highly accurate but very weak. It's best used in emergency situations, and shouldn't be relied on to get kills.
Guardian Angel: Mercy can look at any nearby ally and fly towards them. This action brings Mercy right next to them, allowing her to then heal or buff their teammate. Guardian Angel allows her to fly if the ally is above her, however she can still get stuck on objects in her path, so a clear line of sight is needed.
Angelic Descent: By holding down the jump button, Mercy can fall very slowly from any height. This allows her to land in a more percise area, or heal and buff allies from above while slowly falling.
Resurrect: Mercy brings a dead ally back into the fight with full health.
Valkyrie (Ultimate): Gain the ability to fly. Mercy’s abilities are enhanced.
Mercy Tips
Tips for Playing as Mercy
- Thanks to her boost skill, Mercy can keep up with nearly any character in the game. You can also use it to quickly traverse the map by jumping from person to person.
- Because you are always healing someone, your ultimate will fill up very quickly. Don't hesitate to use it for just 1 or 2 people, as it will be recharged in a few moments anyways.
- Her damage buff will increase an ally's damage by a ton! If you know someone is about to pop an ultimate, fly over to them and buff their damage. This works particularly well on people like Pharah or Soldier 76.
- Mercy has to remain close to her allies to heal them, but that doesn't mean you need to be in harms way. Duck behind corners and outcroppings, and try to slink back just enough so the beam stays connected, but people can't see you.
Tips for Countering Mercy
- Since she has to stay near her target, Mercy is weak to large area of effect attacks, making Junkrat and Pharah great at raining down damage on both her and her ally she was trying to heal.
- Like most supports, she has limited mobility outside of her brief flight. Fast characters like Reaper or Tracer can pop up behind her and blast her with bullets, then quickly dip away.
- Widowmaker is a very good counter, as Mercy is often stuck in harms way due to trying to heal her team.
- Roadhog is a very good counter for her, as you can yank her away from her allies, isolating and killing her.

Story
A guardian angel to those who come under her care, Dr. Angela Ziegler is a peerless healer, a brilliant scientist, and a staunch advocate for peace.
Ziegler rose to become the head of surgery at a prominent Swiss hospital before pioneering a breakthrough in the field of applied nanobiology that radically improved the treatment of life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It was this expertise that attracted the attention of Overwatch.
Because her parents had been taken by war, Ziegler was opposed to the organization's militaristic approach to keeping global peace. Ultimately, she recognized that Overwatch offered her the opportunity to save lives on a much larger scale. As Overwatch's head of medical research, Angela sought to leverage her work for healing in frontline crises. The result was the Valkyrie swift-response suit, which Ziegler herself piloted on many Overwatch missions. Despite her contributions to Overwatch, she was often at odds with her superiors and the organization's overarching aims. When Overwatch dissolved, Ziegler dedicated herself to helping those affected by war.
Though she spends most of her time caring for the broken and dispossessed in crisis areas around the world, Dr. Ziegler can be counted on to don her Valkyrie suit whenever innocents are imperiled.
