The Heartlands
The Heartlands is a region in Red Dead Redemption 2’s state of New Hanover. This is where Arthur and the gang find a home after escaping the snowy mountains.
Exploration warning: If you want to uncover all locations on your own, we advise you not look at this page.
On each individual location page, you can read more on what resources are available in the area, notable buildings and people, wildlife, secrets, collectibles, and more. You can also view all these points on our Red Dead Redemption 2 Interactive Map.

How to Make a Quick $500
After you complete The Spines of America mission, and only after that you can make a fast $500. Visit Limpany, the burned town just south of Horseshoe Overlook. If you haven't been there yet, here it is on the map:
One there, visit this sheriff's building and take an immediate left and walk around the desk. It probably served as a sort of reception desk at one point. Inside the desk is a lockbox with a Special Horse Stimulant Pamphlet and, most importantly, a gold bar.
With the gold bar in your possession, you can visit the fence in Emerald Ranch and sell it for a cool $500. You can pick up this gold bar at any time, but you can't sell it until you've unlocked the fence with The Spines of America mission.
Heartlands Resources and Wildlife
Below are wildlife and plants we’ve found in The Heartlands. We’ll do our best to keep this updated as we spot new things, but please feel free to add animals and plants you’ve found to this list too!
Wildlife: Coming soon!
Plants: Coming soon!
Note: Found Chanterelle mushrooms northeast of Emerald Station. Plants that thrive in the woods and hilly areas are in this general area.
Heartlands Collectibles
Here you'll find a compilation of collectibles we've found in The Heartlands. More sections will be added as they're completed.
Heartlands Dreamcatchers
The Heartlands Hills Dreamcatchers
These dreamcatchers are some of the first you'll come across. Visit the Heartlands, NH, and ride toward the "N" in Heartlands on your map. Not far from the road is a tree filled with dreamcatchers that Arthur can observe.
Southwest of Limpany Dreamcatchers
A bare tree filled with dreamcatchers overlooks an intersection of three roads southwest of Limpany in The Heartlands. Walk or ride up the tiny ridge to observe these dreamcatchers
West of Caliban's Seat Dreamcatchers
These dreamcatchers are visible from the road on the west side of The Heartlands. If you're heading west on the road from Caliban's Seat, you'll see this on your way. Take a short diversion to inspect these dreamcatchers.
Lucky's Cabin Dreamcatchers
East of Lucky's Cabin in The Heartlands is a tree full of dreamcatchers. You can spot this tree if you take the side road east of Lucky's Cabin toward Valentine. The tree will be on your left.
Horseshoe Overlook Dreamcatchers
Though technically not in Horseshoe Overlook, these Heartlands dreamcatchers are nearby. If you're heading north from Horseshoe Overlook along the tracks, you can find this tree with dreamcatchers amongst others and near the "E" in New on the map.
Heartland Overflow Dreamcatchers
On the southeast side of the Heartland Overflow is a nearly bare tree filled with dreamcatchers. You'll find it between the water and Guthrie Farm in The Heartlands.
Northeast Heartlands Dreamcatchers
This dreamcatcher tree is inside the "O" in New Hanover on the map, oddly. If you're taking the road to the east of that "O" north in The Heartlands, you can ride or walk through the flower field to the treeline. In these trees you'll find one luscious tree decorated with the dreamcatchers.
This one is a little harder to spot. Here's where we entered the treeline:
Strangers
- A map from the American Dreams Strangers missions, a side quest about a serial killer, can be found here. Just southeast of Valentine is a murder scene under a train bridge with "LOOK UPON MY WORKS" written in blood across it. See American Dreams for more.
