Notes

I’m on a granny blanket binge at the moment and as they don’t take too much thinking about, other than colour placement, I am pleased to go along with the flow.

This one was going to be for one of the babies due this year, but it has grown rather bigger than a baby blanket.

Joining as I go, starting most of the squares with my little starter squares that I make from odds and end of leftover yarn.

I used the jayg method to join the squares, there is a great tutorial here for this technique.

I do love a granny blanket:)

UPDATE:

This blanket has been stored away for a long time, waiting for it’s border and to be gifted to someone.

Extended family are visiting this weekend and I thought that Connie (great niece) needed a new blanket. Her Mummy Charlotte really appreciated the baby blankets that I made Connie when she was born, here and here,so I thought I would give her a blanket fit for a big girl. She is 3 now.

I added a scalloped border to it and it is now all washed and gift wrapped for her.

I have added the chart that I used to make this blanket.

Border:

1/2. Go around whole blanket with granny clusters. I use this technique to avoid puckering. 3dc, ch 2, 3dc in corners.
3. Starting in corner work 5 tr sc in next space between clusters, 7tr between next space all along, work 9 tr in corner ch2 all around finishing with a further 4tr in the first ch2 space and sl st to beg tr.
