Some true Pinot Noir character for just $9.99. We review the 45 Forty Five & Vine Oregon Pinot Noir from Aldi.
Pinot Noir from Oregon.
The Forty Five & Vine Oregon Pinot Noir is available exclusively at Aldi and now sells for $9.99, although I believe it was $14.99 when it first came out.
From the bottle:
Vineyards in Oregon's northerly latitudes enjoy long growing seasons complemented by crisp, cool nights. This wonderful combination helps to cultivate elegant pinot noir with balanced acidity. Forty Five & Vine Pinot Noir opens with vibrant aromas of cherry and raspberry that lead to notes of cherry pie and cranberry with silken tannins on the finish. Pair with roasted duck, grilled salmon or caprese salad and serve at 55-60F.

The 2020 Forty Five & Vine Pinot Noir opens with aromas of cola, black cherry, some oaky spice, a bit of cranberry and a touch of mint. It's a promising start.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth mouthfeel with similar flavors to the nose. It's not very deep or complex, but it is a balanced, tasty wine that is perfectly fine at this price.
It ends dry and with good length. While pretty simple, it definitely won't blow your socks off but it is tasty enough and even has some true Pinot character.
We like it at $9.99, but I would pass at the original price of $14.99.
