From the bottle:
Argentina's most acclaimed wine region for Malbec, Mendoza Province is in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The grapes for this Kirkland Signature Malbec are grown between 2800 and 3300 feet above sea level. This deep purple Malbec has intense fruit notes of plum and cherries and a long rounded finish. It displays a perfect balance of ripe fruit coupled with oak spice from 12 months of careful aging in French oak barrels.
Crafted at the Broquel winery in Mendoza, this Malbec was produced especially for Kirkland Signature.

We've been tasting and reviewing the Kirkland Malbec going back to the 2009 vintage and unlike a lot of the other Costco wines, the quality on this one seemed to bounce around a good bit the first few years.
Ever since they've revealed the producer as Broquel Winery (which happened a few vintages ago), the quality has improved and this has become a consistent winner at just $7, much like the Kirkland Signature Cotes du Rhone Villages and the Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Superieur.
The 2022 Kirkland Signature Malbec begins with pleasing aromas of plum and blackberry plus some cola, licorice, vanilla and dusty spice.
Tasting reveals similar flavors to the nose in this medium-bodied, smooth and easy drinking Malbec. With lots of juicy fruit and nice touches of spice throughout, this is seriously crowd-pleasing stuff. It's tasting very similar to the 2021, which is a good thing.
It ends with a dry, juicy finish of lingering tart fruit and more dusty spice notes. We found it to be even a bit better on day 2 where it was smoother and more balanced.
Really quite delicious, this is a fantastic wine at this extremely low price. This is definitely Bulk Buy material once again!

And here's our previous review of the very similar 2021 vintage.
The 2021 Kirkland Signature Malbec begins with pleasing aromas of plum and blackberry plus a little cola, licorice, vanilla and dusty spice.
Tasting reveals similar flavors to the nose in this medium-bodied, smooth and easy drinking Malbec. With lots of juicy fruit and nice touches of spice throughout, this is seriously crowd-pleasing stuff. Compared to the 2020, it's not quite as ripe on the fruit and also a bit more oaky, but the latter is likely just due to its youth.
It ends with a dry, juicy finish of lingering tart fruit and more dusty spice notes. We found it to be even a bit better on day 2. Overall, I like this vintage even a bit more than the 2020.
