Ty Burr Boston Globe No offense to Pipkin and his real concerns, but a tougher questioner might have shed more light and heat. Rated: 2/4 Sep 8, 2006 Full Review Stephen Hunter Washington Post It's about 40 IQ points dumber than the typical public television broadcast. Sep 7, 2006 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety An amiably sincere and politely thought-provoking docu in which the peripatetic writer-director plays genial talk-show host to various Nobel Prize winners. May 6, 2006 Full Review Jette Kernion Cinematical It is difficult to sustain an audience's interest with talking heads, and a few of the Nobel Laureates have trouble explaining concepts in terms that are easy to digest during a documentary. Rated: 2/5 Apr 8, 2007 Full Review Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone TheMovieChicks.com If you like to have your brain (and your heart) engaged when you watch films, this is a documentary you don't want to miss and you don't have to be a Nobel Prize winner to see the value of it. Rated: 4/5 Mar 28, 2006 Full Review Scott Weinberg eFilmCritic.com My advice would be to find a copy of this fantastic documentary, settle down for an 80-minute piece of enlightenment, and then maybe use its lessons to help make the world a better place. Audience Member Surprisingly unbiased and self-aware for the narrator. He hardly spliced in his own opinions and only emphasized the points of the interviewees. He was also strangely and uniquely aware of media and what that means. They do not ignore it and are not afraid of the reality of film. He also incorporates his family and revelations into the film so the audience feels they are going through this journey with him and understand why this matters to him and should matter to us. This is the first documentary I have seen that shows the camera being toted around, the screen during the interview, and camera action outside of cuts. This documentary also contains unique and powerful messages from a diverse group of Nobel laureats that all value knowledge and hope for the future. Graceful and full of revelations. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member What a great doc. As Pipkin's kids get older they keep asking harder questions about the state of the world. He turns to Nobel laureates to help formulate questions and answers for the future. Quite empowering, inspiring, awesome in the best sense. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Really incredible film. It has a wealth of information, it makes you think, it's nicely displayed, and it inspires you. It makes me wonder why people are going to huge block-buster movies with no plot and terrible acting; They could be watching this! It's just about people. No special effects, nothing fancy, just people talking. People saying important things. Everyone should see this movie. In the words of Nobel Peace Prize winner Jody Williams: "Just get up off your butt and do something!" Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A most amazing film. Not because of cinematography, casting or writing but simply because the story was a good one. And I think it might even be true. Interviews with past Nobel laureates (Jody Williams, Sir Joseph Rotblatt, Amayrta Sen, etc.) give viewers information and personal insights into the world's most serious problems. The dialogue is so compelling, so down to earth, one cannot help but want to simply DO something about it. A few cheesy musical montages didn't even factor after I saw the Desmond Tutu interview. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a definitely should-see: it first complicates, then simplifies the problems facing all of us - Desmond Tutu features prominently.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Concerned about the world your children will inherit? Look at the future through the eyes of Nobel Laureates. "The answer may be simple, but it won't be easy" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
