The organised mass fishing fleet consisted of 49 steam trawlers, 6 carriers and a dedicated hospital ship. Carrier ships ferried the catch to market whilst the fleet stayed in their fishing area.

RM2D6KJ6X–An old engraving showing a plan for the Hudson River east bank frontage along West Street, New York City, USA c.1870. It is from a Victorian mechanical engineering book of the 1880s. New York City needed more capacity for shipping. A series of piers were eventually designed by the architectural firm of Warren and Wetmore. The complex was a row of grand buildings embellished with pink granite facades with piers behind forming the docking points for ocean liners of Cunard Line and White Star Line from the early 1900s. The piers are now used by the Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex.
